This weekend we will be going to the venue to look at timings of everything, going to visit a bakery and hopefully going to a florist (or grocery store?) to see our options in terms of bouquets. FI also wants to check out moores for suits.
What about you guys?
we're meeting up to talk food, flowers, dj & alcohol this weekend and on 1 May we've got an appt with a baker that i'm excited about. the 1st one was pretty lackluster, so i'm hoping this one's "the one".
Nothing! I'm in a rut.... still....
I need my invites ASAP, I need to book a block of hotel rooms for out of towners, I need to fill our registry...
I haven't really worked on anything, LOL!. We had our "councelling" session with our Pastor last night and it went extremely well. We will begin the actually planning of the ceremony towards the end of July. Other than that, I have to get started printing out my invitations. They are pocketfold style, so my goal was to do them in stages so I don't wind up doing all of the printing last minute. I am waiting for our caterer to send me table cloth samples so I can coordinate things with the florist, and get everything finalized with him. As it gets closer to the wedding, we will head over to the hall with our caterer to get an idea of the layout and how we want to set up the room. Right now, I think the only thing we are trying to figure out is transportation as far as what kind of car we want to rent, and also figure out the attire for FI and his groomsment. Other than that, we are pretty much done everything else, it's just a matter of taking care of the little things (FI's wedding ring, attire, marriage liscense, cake topper, cake serving set, favors, etc).
@Waves2: we are also going to printing our own pocketfold invites (yay michaels)... I should probably get started on that soon!
We're going to pick out the mens wear Friday evening and I'm patiently waiting for my craft supplies....
We still need to find a caligrapher but we've got enough time for that since invitations won't go out for a few more months.
I just put my STD's in the mail today. My next project is finding an officiant and booking the honeymoon.
I am finally hoping to finish the STDs and get them in the mail by next Monday. I've just started looking for BM dresses, so I'm hoping to have those ordered by the end of May. We have our tasting at our venue (they do the catering as well) in 3 weeks and I can't wait!
I bought some gold chargers from a bee last week. Today I bought part of the bridesmaid gifts (earrings). Tomorrow I'm trying on my dress, it just came in!!! We figured out where we are going for our honeymoon, and we'll be booking that this weekend. Also trying to figure out dates and guest lists for showers..Things are coming along :)
We are meeting with the coordinator at our reception venue tomorrow evening, to discuss pricing, I'm about 1/4 done with our invites, and next week we are meeting with the florist!
Currently, as in the next two weeks or so: Mailing in the deposit for the DJ (apparently FI still has not done this). Finding an officiant who doesn't cost an arm & a leg. Ordering the final two bridesmaid dresses. Meeting with the baker for a cake tasting. Attempting to learn how to make pinwheels for some decor.
We have decided on a florist but need to book with them - same for the cake bakery. We are waiting on our STDs to arrive so we can send them out ASAP and our invites should get here today actually (they were on sale so we bought them really early) so I am REALLY excited to see how they turned out! And we are supposed to be working on a day-of timeline but I feel a little weddinged-out after the last two weeks so we are taking a break instead ha ha!
I AM WORKING ON BURLAP TABLE RUNNERS WITH A "T" PAINTED ON EACH END FOR OUR LAST NAME. HERE IS A PICTURE I SAW THAT GAVE ME THE IDEA!

@tranquility: LOL! I am totally slacking on it. I have the templates set up ready to go, it's just finding the time to buckle down and do it.
@.twist.: I know how you feel. I am definitely running out of steam. It's funny, I had more fun planning my sister's weddng than my own. I mean, it was fun and exciting in the beginning, but now I am so over it. I really need to change my attitude.
Things that are complete:
Venue, rentals, decorations, church arrangements, STD's, caterer, dress, seamstress, DOC, DJ, tux, flowers, make up, rehearsal dinner, registering, honeymoon, timeline
Things in progress:
invitations, bridal party gifts, port-o-potty rental, rings, transportation, combining finances, decide on cupcake flavors
Things to be started:
Officiant, Ceremony, rehearsal dinner invites, dog tuxedo, combining households (ACK!)
We just decided on invitations, so will be ordering those in the next couple weeks.
Random Question. If my wedding is October 29, I have to let my venue know 2 weeks prior our 'final count', how early do I need to send out my invites and request the RSVP cards to be back? I know I'll want to leave a little time in between to follow up on those we don't get back.
Other than that we at a stand still until May 6th weekend. We'll be taking our engagement pictures, meeting with a cake person, minister, and trying on bridesmaid dresses (2 of the girls haven't yet).
Living in one state and getting married in another...SUCKS! I basicly have to cram wedding stuff in the entire time we go in to visit.
Holy crap, so many of you are doing invitations...
I thought I had another 3 months or so...
Currently, I am in freakout mode. I have no bridesmaids dresses to speak of, my MOH made plans with me to go looking on saturday and then cancelled like 5 seconds ago. I have my dress, venue, baker, centerpieces, officiant, dj, ceremony music, half my invites are done, food is all chosen. Next weekend I'm going for my trial hair run and bringing some pics to the baker. I really want to find some bridesmaid dresses, and kind of disapointed that my MOH cancelled on me. I hate it when people cancel plans!
@Waves2: I am in the same place! We had a long engagement, so I've had wedding on the brain for over a year already. Plus guest list stresses and poor bridesmaids, that I have gratiously offered to pay for their hair and half the cost of their dresses (which I'm now wondering why I did, I love the girls, but that was not in my original budget, I just felt bad that they're all students without jobs!) and to top it off, I am SERIOUSLY questioning some of my day-of timeline decisions. I am so freaked out. So ready to throw in the towel and elope.
@KateByDesign: I think you're fine. I just started contacting people to figure out what invitations we want but am nowhere near printing. I think everyone is just trying to get ahead of the game and start early so they're not cramming DIY last minute.
@KateByDesign: I was thinking the same thing! I'm not planning on sending my invitations out until the very beginning of August (and I'm getting married 3 weeks before you).
We just did our first registry last weekend. STD's went out two weeks ago. We just ordered invites this week! Woohoo! That was big!
This weekend:
-planning the OOT bags
-planning in between favors (for the 2 hour gap between ceremony/wedding)
-Keeping an eye on honeymoon prices
-Setting up florist appointments
-Setting up cake tasting
-Register at store 2 of 3
Feeling like I am making real progress!
@Petunia123: My wedding date is 10/22/2011 and I am sending out my invites around the middle of the last week of July. My response date is September 15th. I think that this is enough time for the guests to respond (keep in mind we did send out Save The Dates) as well as enough time for me to call anyone who has not responded, and get a final head count to our caterer.
Dress is bought, finally decided on silver v. orange bolero (silver), I met with a jewellery designer & am getting a necklace along with earrings&necklaces for each of my girls, got all my girls to agree on the shade for their bridesmaids dresses....Invites are designed, finally nailed down a quote for the stationary and printing, florist & linen cheques go out next Friday, I half-changed my mind about centerpieces (AGAIN) and decided to DIY them myself (florist quoted me 40$ per ... no thanks!), our cake deposit has been made, OH. And I set a date for our engagement photos, May 14th!
May will have us paying the rest of our venue deposit, as well as making the first deposit for our florist, jewellery and invitations, and our bands....and I WILL get FI into a Moores/TipTop by the end of May, so help me god.
@.twist.: Well, as far as the timeline goes, just plan that day the best you can. I am kinda worried about being rushed for pictures during the time gap between the ceremony and reception, and arriving late to cocktail hour. I've come to realize that there are going to be things that I can't control, and I just have to mentally prepare myself for things to not go as smoothly as I had hoped/planned As long as everything else is taken care of, then i can't let the unkown and what if's stress me out.
Tonight, we're going to look at a banquet hall for the reception. It sounds rather promising so hopefully we found one we can book cuz we're only about 6 months out from the reception.
We're moving so we don't plan on doing much else this week, but we might also finalize the guest list for the wedding shower soon if we have the time.
FI is going out of town this long weekend, so I'm looking forward to getting a lot done!! First of all I need to label, stamp and send out our STDs. I'm meeting with FMIL to discuss flowers - she's going to be making the bouquets. My sister (MOH) and I are going to Ikea to look at vases for the tables and perhaps do some mockup centerpieces. We're also meeting with our potential commissioner on Wednesday which I'm really looking forward to. And I'm looking for a makeup artist too. I think that's it for now!!
we have deposits down with DJ, florist, photographer, venue - had our menu tasting a week ago and are in the process of finalizing food. picked our bakery but haven't sent the deposit yet. have our officiant (my uncle) but have NOT planned ceremony script at all - yikes! we sent STDs a while ago because its a destination wedding for about 95% of the guests and are in the middle of designing invites. we booked our honeymoon last weekend - yay! FI picked our the guy's blazers last night so we need to get their sizes and have them order, and the BMs already have their dresses. I have my dress but she won't be in for a while longer, and we need to buy FI's suit. my current/next projects are I need to look at shuttles from the hotel to the wedding for guests and book those...we need to get our wedding bands...and we still haven't registered - oops!
We are sending our Save the Dates out on tomorrow hopefully!
I booked the florist, but I still need to meet with her to finalize colors/flowers.
I booked an officiant but we are meeting with him in a couple of weeks.
I'm meeting with Fiance's cousin who is doing our cupcakes in a week or so.
I'm going to start crafting my reception centerpieces (they are non-floral and this is what I'm thinking...
This week:
1. Contacting potential DOCs
2. Mailing STDs
3. Signing room block contract
4. Signing MUA contract with deposit
The rest of this month:
1. Reminding Mr. LK that he still has to contact the courthouse to verify that being ordained by the Church of Dudeism is acceptable for our officiant. Yes, I am 100% serious.
2. Nail down whether of not Mr. LK's family intends to help with and/or fully host the rehersal dinner. That should make for super fun Easter dinner conversation. :/
3. Contact our venue to find out whether I should plan to use their equipment or the chocolatier's equipment for the chocolate truffles display.
4. Nail down my parents on whether or not they want to host a day-after brunch.
5. More stuff that I am forgetting at this moment.
I was feeling behind, but feel better now that I booked an officiant yesterday.
My biggest obstacle now is finding someone to do make up and hair. I had no idea that stuff filled up so fast...almost everyone I have called is already booked! EEEK!
I just ordered my STD's, should be here in a couple weeks.
I'm pretty ahead of the game, or so I'm told ... benefit of having extreme Type A personality. I had the venue about a month ago (snagged their last Saturday in October), flowers, DJ, cake (was done this past Monday), invitations (addressed and stuffed this week), rehearsal dinner site (kind of in flux but almost locked down), officiant, honeymoon, dress ...
FI still has to do tuxes, and there are lots of little things, like details for favors, bridal party gifts, bridesmaid still needs to pick out her dress (just have one ... bridesmaid, that is), guest book, programs, and flower girl basket.
Currently Working on (the next 2 months):
Invitations are being assembled next weekend, sent mid-May with a July 31 RSVP deadline (yes I know it's early, but then I have all of August to chase people, and then 7 weeks to do seating chart, name tags, etc)
