YAY OCTOBER BRIDES!!!
Well, we've been engaged over a year already so we got quite a bit accomplished early. We have our venue, I have my dresses (yes, I have 2- one gown, one reception dress:)~), photographer, DJ, videographer, a lot of the decor/table setting/centerpieces done.
We really only have to do flowers, order the BM dresses and have the boys fitted for their tux-- everything else is pretty much done! OH and have to meet with the pastor who is marrying us. We're in great shape and it will be here before we know it! I think we're sending out the STDs this coming month!
When did you ladies order BM dresses or are planning on doing it?
We've got the venue (which includes catering), photographer, makeup and hair. Our save-the-dates should be in next week. I've got a lot of work to do. 8 months though is a decent amount of time.
We also have been engaged since June so I have a lot booked! Church, venue, caterer, dj, photog, limo....I think thats about it.
I bought my dress and just found shoes last night. Picked hte BM dresses, but the shop said they dont need to be ordered until April.
Now we are starting to focus on finding our florist and what we will want in that department as well as all our paper products.
I know we have ALOT done, but I feel that there is still SO much to do!!
We've got:
guest list
venue/caterer
ceremony/officiant
Photog
DJ
------
To do's:
Misc. music
Invites
Florals/centerpieces/decor
DRESS, etc - eek!
Well, I've been engaged six days, but hey-- we have a venue!
Other than that, I've just been doing research on everything else. We've made a lot of decisions on other things but have yet to enact them. We still have to ask the bridal party. Etc., etc.
I'm waaaaaay behind you ladies!
Habibah- David's told us to order them in April
Congrats, Bunny!!
We've Got!
I've been engaged since August and we've got a venue (ceremony and reception). I just booked a photograper this week. About to book the caterer. I'm completely outfitted (dress, shoes, jewelry, veil, etc). Bridesmaid dresses purchased. Save the Dates done. Flowers done.
We've just got to pick groomsmen/get tuxes, finish invites, decorations and book the DJ. Umm I think that's it. Still a lot to go and 9 months to get it done.
Good luck ladies!
hahahaha omg...
I have a dress.
aaaannnnddd...
That's it.
We're closing in on a wedding venue soon, and so when we have that, we'll know our date so we can book everything else. Since we're looking at restaurants, when we book we'll have catering/cake settled. Don't get me wrong...it's not that I've been slacking. We've been working so hard! I think a lot of things are going to come together much faster after we have our date set. We're doing our own invites and flowers, so the venue will really determine the look and feel of both.
I know what the boys are wearing but we haven't gone shopping yet. I'm still looking for photogs, but have narrowed it down. Haven't even thought about a DJ yet. Guest list...it's going to be small and not a big problem. Bridesmaids won't be too hard to outfit, I have them picked but not ordered yet.
Soooo...not a bunch to say about it right now, but it's not from a lack of effort! lol!
I have also been engaged for over a year now so I have a lot done already! Things that are done:
-my dress (including viel and shoes)
-all the bouquets and bouts.
-church/officiant
-reception site
-photographer
-cake
-reception decor
-in the process of designing STD's
Still needs to be done:
-BM dresses
-limo
-DJ
-tuxes
-finish designing invitations
The only thing I am concerned about is that my MOH lives in PA and is planning on being pregnant at my wedding, so if we order a dress in April, it might not fit in October, so I'm not sure what to do!
Quetsion: So when you ladies this these things as done are they done as in bought, booked, paid for or are they more like "I know what I want and that's established" ?
when I marked things as done, they're done, as in my possession. All other things are still pending even if i know exactly what i'm going to get.
OMG! I am soooo behind compared to all of you! I am still researching and deciding on what will work for us and our budget. I like this stage of being able to just relax and get everything together and then come up with a plan. I kinda work better under pressure anyway. :)
When I say done I mean that they are paid for and in my posession, just like @miss cake said!
wow everyone is way ahead! We booked our venue, going to see the photographer this week, and I've just started looking at dresses. I guess I am a little behind
We have the church booked, venue, cater, photographer, florist, videographer, BM picked out (girls will order by April), my gown and jewelry purchased (still need veil and shoes), pre-marital counseling completed, hotel block booked, carriage ride booked (what we are using to depart from reception, will take us around downtown and to our hotel). Save the dates to go out in the next few weeks.
Still lots to do, but all the major stuff has been booked, and most of the other stuff has been decided, just not purchased or completed yet.
Hooray October Brides!
-Save the Dates are awaiting our personalized stamps.
-Photographer is booked.
-Catering is about to be booked.
-Bridesmaids are dress hunting.
-DOC and Dj booked.
oh, and our Best Man just got arrested.
Should be interesting..... :)
so far we have our....
still on our list...
We've decided to have a private ceremony, so our list of "to do's" isn't as long.
So far, we've booked our officiant, chosen the ceremony location and time, agreed on having a post wedding dinner (as opposed to a pre-wedding dinner) and decided on our honeymoon details. And we narrowed down our wedding bands.
I bought my wedding shoes, a shawl (in case it's chilly), cake topper, his wedding tie, little white vases I planned to use as favors (but will end up keeping), and thank you cards that I might turn into our informal dinner invites/magnetized wedding picture holder.
We will hopefully finalize our honeymoon plans by tomorrow and get a response from the photographer.
To Do
Confusion/Uncertainties
OMG I am panicking now reading all that everyone else has done! we only have a venue! I have a wedding planner though...if that means anything.
We've been engaged since November 30th.
We have:
Venue (ceremony and reception), pastor, photographer, caterer, hair stylist, tables and chairs rented, cake booked (not completely designed, but booked), dress, veil, accessories minues shoes, bunches and bunches of mason jars collected, music picked.
We still have a LOT more to do but it's nice listing out everything we already have accomplished. Makes me feel a lot less stressed.
We have: venue, photographer, florist, two caterers, wedding gown, favors (99% done), shoes, ties for groomsmen/fathers/brothers, bouts (from etsy), bridal jewelry, bridesmaids' jewelry, bridesmaids' shoes, two officiants (Catholic and Hindu), madap rented, chiavari chairs rented, Save-the-Dates done and ready to be addressed.
We need to: book our DJ (meeting with him in two weeks), book hair and MUA, book hotel room blocks, meet with designer who will be making my custom corset, and do all the other million DIY projects I have up my sleeve. My BMs will buy their own chocolate brown dresses by March. My next big project will be our invitations, which I will attempt to DIY with no graphic design experience whatsoever :)
Yay for October Brides!!!
We have been engaged since October 4th 2009.
We have booked our venue, caterer, cake (cupcakes!), photographer, band, hair, makeup, dress, veil, and ceremony (we are marrying ourselves http://www.secular-celebrations.com/weddings/penn.html )
Hotel room blocks and Florists are pretty much decided but not "official" yet. Bridesmaids are picking out/ordering their own Sapphire blue dresses by April 1.
Still left?? So MUCH!
OOT Bags (a big maybe), Candy Buffet, Tuxes, Invites, Pick out songs, Dance Lessons, Wedding bands, decide on Menu, Honeymoon, cupcake flavors, Transportation, Shoes, Rehearsal Dinner & Sunday Brunch (someone else is planning/pay for these events but they want my input), and all the little details like centerpieces & decorations.
We got engaged on Oct. 10, 2009.
I'm feeling pretty good with where we stand at the moment.
So far, we have: church, venue (food included with venue), DJ, photobooth, BM dresses, my dress, invitation designer, STDs have been sent, Bridal jewellery, photographer and booked a portion of the honeymoon. We've received a quote from one florist (my first choice), but are waiting until we meet with another florist in early March before we make a decision.
Current items on my to do list: Book a hotel block, find someone to design/flatprint paper items for the day-of (e.g. programs, menus, placecards etc.), find someone to make the cakes for our cake buffet, transportation, rehearsal dinner, choose a vendor for chair covers and table linens (have been in touch with a couple and am currently waiting to hear back).
We've been engaged since August 09 and so far we've got:
Andddd that's it. LOL I've gone dress shopping once way back in November so I should probably get on that. And we've contacted a few DJs who we'll probably meet with soon and started researching the honeymoon but I still feel like there's sooooooo much to do. Probably because I've loaded myself down with hoards of DIY projects. Ahhh don't you love how we do this to ourselves? At least I have some company!! :)
i'm an october 10th bee and the only things i have left:
my florist
my cake
my jewelry
what i did:
venue....although i picked an easy venue - all inclusive type of thing that comes with wedding coordinator, DJ, caterer.
i finally narrowed down and hired my photographer.
i found my dress and ordered it, picked a BM dress and set a deadline for them to order it. and picked the tuxes
i've deigned my own centerpieces, and talked with a florist ab making my vision a reality, i just have to have a consultation with her and negotiate a budget.
my cake....ah jeez i dunno how to pick a style, there so many beautiful cakes out there.
after that my weding coordinator will remind me of things i need to establish - menu, etc
i'm sending my invites out august 1st, and will start calling/pestering people sept. 20th for an RSVP b.c my final headcount is due sept. 25th
i already worked with a girl on etsy to design my BMs jewelry, as that's their gift..and a few extras.
as for my invites...i went cheapo on those, bc i felt like thats def. not the most important part i mean i jsut see it as something ppl throw away so dont judge me - i got them at michaels, just simple ivory with chocolate brown border.
booked the honeymoon
picked my hair...and originally wasnt going to wear a veil, but today i think i decided on a birdcage veil.
ummmm i think that's all! sounds exhausting just typing it
Time for an update!
I've got sorted: Church (incl music, vicar, bells, choir, hymns -- just need to sort readings), Reception (incl catering), Dress, DJ, Rings, STDs (sent out), ring cushion, hair and makeup artist, cake vendor (booked, cake not yet finally designed), flowers for reception.
In progress: Invitations (designed, now just getting the various components together so we can assemble and send out in May), cars (we are getting vintage London taxis, just sorting out the quotes), BM dresses (one chosen, bought and arrived, the other is yet to be chosen from a choice of 3), my shoes (I've seen a Kate Spade pair I like), flowers for ceremony.
To do: Guys' clothes (though we are doing that on 1 May), favours (though we've decided what we're having), jewellery, flower girl dress. And about a million other things!
I'm an October 2nd bride and I think we're making good progress!
Purchased/Booked: venue, photographer, caterer, my dress, my MOH dress (no bridesmaids), centerpieces (they're non-floral), officiant (a friend), linens, and the honeymoon!!!
In Progress: invitations (they're designed, we just need to print and assemble), music (we're not hiring a DJ), flowers (have a mtg with a florist next month but may DIY our flowers), my accessories (have some but not all of what I need)
To Do: register, pick the men's attire, find recipes for our cakes (we're doing a buffet and baking them on our own), book someone for hair and maybe makeup, WRITE OUR CEREMONY, decorations for ceremony and reception area, buy alcohol and drinks (not included with our catering) . . . and about a million other things that can wait until the wedding day gets closer!
so far we have...
