Anyone else getting married on October 24, 2009? What colors are you using? Are you doing a fall theme? How are your wedding plans coming along?
Hello!
I'm also getting married that day, in Atlanta. Fall will just be beginning, so I'm going to skip the harvest theme and go for a modern looking rich yellow and charcoal gray.
Don't have much solidified yet, but so many ideas!
Hi all!!!
I'm so excited to read about other brides who have the same date as me!!! I'm getting married in Connecticut and our reception will be in a barn. It will be one of those fall New England weddings. The colors we are using are the deep reds and oranges, copper, brown and green (typical fall colors). We're trying for rustic chic.
So far, we have the reception venue, caterer, hotel for out of town guests (there are A LOT!!!) and church. My MOH, mom and I will start dress shopping in the end of February and I'm currently doing research for photographers.
How about you ladies? How's the planning going so far?
I'm getting married 10-24-09 in the northern Dallas area (actually a historic downtown area of a city north of Dallas). Wedding will be outdoors, afternoon, my colors are chocolate brown, ivory, and shades of purple. So far I have....
- booked ceremony site
- booked reception site (this includes tables, chairs, and catering)
- booked photographer
- booked jazz band
- ordered dress
- looked at wedding bands
- shopped for BM dresess
- hotel for OOT guests
- invitation designer
I should also mention I'm a college senior, currently in my last semester of classes before a do an internship in the summer, so I'm trying to get started early, and get lots accomplished during my breaks.
here's the little collage I made...it's not as pretty as some of the others i have seen on here, but my the location picture are my real locations, the ring is mine, as well as the dress and the engagement picture ;)
i'm not an oct.24 bride... but that date is my parents' anniversary and my late grandmother's birthday--oh how i miss her! you all picked such a wonderful date! congrats to you all and best of luck in your planning!
Wooohooo 10/24 brides!! I'm getting married near Baltimore, in a place with a lot of history for my family. So far we have the venue, dresses, and dj figured out. We're working on the flowers, caterer, and photographer. Debating on a videographer (FI doesn't think we need one, but I don't want it to be a regret, I've found a professional who will do it for $500).
Our colors are going to be black and pool blue, I always wanted these colors and I think they will go nicely with the fall leaves.
Hello all you 10/24 ladies! I'm getting married in Pittsburgh: traditional Catholic ceremony, not-so-traditional reception (it's split between a local restaurant and a martini bar). Colors are copper, chocolate brown, sage green and ivory.
Here's a collage (most of these pictures are of the acutal places I'm having the wedding; for instance, the top lefthand corner is where we'll be having dinner).
Aww, this was our original plan for a wedding date, and now we've found out that due to a problem with our church booking, we might have to go back to it! :) VictoryB, I'm in Atlanta, too. Found any great autumn vendors yet?
@lagizzle-- are you using purple and yellow for colors?? That is what i'm planning on right now (well, for that past couple of weeks those have been top choices). I'd love any other info on how you are incorporating them.
So far I"m thinking purple bridesmaids dresses (same color for all but different dresses), sunflowers for ceremony decoration, and vibrant yellows of different flowers for bouquets. Any feedback??
There is a beautiful yellow bouquet in Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2009... but I can't find a link online. I love the look of this one with some other colors too. Do you think it would clash with purple and or sunflowers... be honest please =)

I'm a 10/29/09 too! Both our ceremony and reception will be at a golf course in Toronto. We have that booked, also an officiant, DJ and some musicians for the ceremony. I'm not 100% sure about colours, but am definitely leaning towards navy, gold and cream with some splashes of orange (flowers etc.). Have been thinking about eggplant too though. The copper green and brown above are swaying me too! I'm finding this decision really difficult!
Do those of you toward the north like myself think there will still be leaves on the trees on our date? I'm hoping yes, but I think they may all have fallen by then? I have always wanted to get married in the fall, but we just booked a couple of weeks ago and all of the Sept/early Oct dates were taken when we went looking for a venue.
hirsche - i'm doing chocolate and purples. i like the pink and yellow, but maybe go with a deeper yellow, like more on the gold side, but not metallic, to keep it not looking like Easter. :)
Our date is 10.16.2009 and we're going with tangerine and navy. I'm thinking about throwing in a little blush to kind of soften those strong colors.
I'm a 10.24.09 bride as well, but not really planning on a fall theme - it was just the first available date that worked for us! :)
But our ceremony will be outdoors on a lake, so I'm crossing my fingers not all the leaves will have dropped by then!
I am an October 24th girl!! I am using Bordeaux, chocolate, lime green, and shades of orange in my wedding. It is very fall without using the traditional fall oranges and reds. We are getting married in NC at a vineyard/winery. I have an inspiration board that details my colors and location...
We are 10.24.09 also! Our colors are eggplant, slate blue, chocolate brown & ivory. I wouldn't say our theme is specifically fall, but it does seem to fit the season.
Here's another 10/24 bride-to-be! We chose the date based on a combination of factors: (1) the New Orleans weather should be nice, not too hot (fingers are crossed)(2) being on birth control, you can know when your periods will be years in advance, and plan a wedding around them! (3) the wedding must be before daylight saving time ends, or I will be slightly depressed.
Our plans are coming slowly but surely. We've booked venues (ceremony at a park, reception at an old theater) and a photographer, sent out save the dates, started invitations (in case I royally mess up). My dress should be in next month and I already booked a place to get make up & hair. Every once in awhile I get paranoid because a lot of weddings take place in October in New Orleans - so I'm trying to get things done early. We're currently looking for a band for the reception.
Our colors are silver and orange. I fell in love with an advertisement for a couch awhile back. It was an orange couch half unwrapped in a silver, tin foil-like substance and I fell in love. I'm gocco-ing RSVP postcards with orange cardstock and silver ink. The invitations will be gray stock with silver and either black or orange ink. I don't want to seem halloweeny! I'm using this picture as inspiration:
I'm looking forward to bouncing ideas off everyone!
I'm an 10/24/09 bride to be as well. Arkansas weather is a bit unpredictable, so I am hoping for the leaves to be at least starting to turn and it not be too hot or rainy. But, we will be working with the fall colors as well. Reds, oranges, yellows, browns, greens, etc.... I am wanting to use several fall elements throughout the church and reception venue (which is outside, so ladies please keep your fingers crossed.) My newest element that I am wanting incorporated into my flowers is pheasant feathers.
So, my biggest deliema has been reception food. We are not having a dinner, just the finger food thing. I would like any ideas on something unique, so if you have any suggestions, please help a girl out.
Happy planning all you beautiful brides!!!
I'm getting married on Oct 24, too. I'm keeping it just black and white - very simple and elegant in center city philly.
I'm getting married on 10/24/09 as well! Our colors are Navy & Hot Pink! We're getting married in Charleston, SC so it won't really feel like fall to me. Weather is usually in the 70s in October - we're getting married outside.
Its so nice to see so many other 10/24 brides! :)
I'm in North Texas. I'm hoping for 75 and partly cloudy on the wedding day. Ours is outside in the afternoon :)
I'm getting married 10/24/09 in beautiful Honolulu for the following reasons: 1. It's off season and air fares are much cheaper 2. 85 degrees year round so it won't be cold 3. My fiance and I have been going there for the last 3 years and have fallen in love with Honolulu.
My colors are orange and gold. My favorite color is baby blue but since it is a garden wedding I didnt my BM's dresses to blend with the sky so I had to use a color to complement the blue. Also didn't want to go with the cliche coral.
Good luck to all the October brides...it's just around the corner...yikes!
I am getting married October 23rd and my colors are rust, orange, chocolate and light gold. I still have soooooooooooo much to do!
I am october 24th in NYC!!! I dont have a color scheme. Just using what I like.
I am getting married on Long Island, NY on October 24, 2009!!! Hoping the weather will be nice enough so we can have our cocktail hour outside. I am only having my sister as far as a wedding party...she is wearing sage green and will be carrying various shades of burgundy in her bouquet. We're so excited!!!
I'm getting married on October 24 as well. Our wedding will be outside in a rose garden in East Texas. Our colors are burnt orange and champagne. I'm praying it's not too hot and it doesn't rain.
Our wedding is the 24th as well. We're going with Black, Ivory and Copper

No fall theme for us. And no MissDivine E I am right around where you are and a little bit behind.
Here is a question for folks, when did you send your invites?
Thanks dmithchell08, I feel SO much better! I sent mine out yesterday. Yay!
I sent mine out yesterday too! Although I e-mailed so everyone already has them - and we've already reveiced a handful of replies - yay!
Ahhhh stop! Omg. These posts freak me out. I will have mine at the end of next week ... they should go out the week of the 24th ... I did just send her my final guest list + addresses though!
I still have to pick out chairs and linens + table setting next week I have that apt. and I still have to plan the ceremony.
All the other big things are out of the way though.
I haven't sent my invitations yet. I was going to send them this weekend but saw somewhere that they should go out 6 weeks before. So, I think i'll wait a few weeks. Send them out in early September.
I will have the final invitations in hand on the 26th (Aug) and they will be mailed out that day. So excited. On monday I go for a meeting to finalize the table + chair situation. Chairs have been the hardest issue.
We went and planned out the menu, now we have a tasting after Labor Day. I have pretty much everything ordered and ready.
We're getting married in Vancouver, BC. Our colours are yellow and burgundy! We haven't sent out our invites yet... We will in about a week.
Hi ladies! I'm an October 24 bride as well. We're getting ready to send our invites out into the world this upcoming Saturday... exactly six weeks prior! I believe we have 44 days to go now! Unbelievable!
For those of you who have sent your invites already, how are your RSVPs coming along? I'm so excited about seeing the first response cards in the mail!
@bethanyleigh My RSVP deadline is next Sunday and I've just sent a reminder out to those still mia... we have about 25% still outstanding.
