I am a 10/30 bride, but I can’t really help, because we are doing a Halloween theme, and having a costume optional reception.

Sorry.

I have had a lot of people ask, but our wedding is going to be Halloween friendly. I’m borrowing costumes from my university’s theatre department for our fauxtobooth and people are surely welcome to wear costumes if they want.

I picked the day specifically because it was Halloween weekend.

I’m also 10/30/10 and have had the same comments.  I tell them they can wear a costume if they want, but they’ll be the only one wearing one….

Oh yes, get it all the time! Especially since FI is a “costumer” in his spare time and has several screen accurate costumes he dons for Charities and fun, lol. Our colors are eggplant and blues, no leafs, pumpkins, or anything else. We didn’t originally choose this weekend. It was actually like the 4th choice but the only one that worked…

hah, yes. i have a lot of questions about halloween but mostley i get “is it going to be a gothic wedding?” i don’t get it. maybe because we have a lot of tattoos/piercings. but gothic? no. i’m going to add flares of halloween and run with the rock&roll, but i’m not having costumes. it doesn’t help that here in Detroit, we’ll be celebrating Devil’s night! 🙂

Yep. I’ve gotten that a few times too. I’ve made it pretty clear that in no way is this a costume party, this is a semi-formal wedding, no jeans or t-shirts or costumes PLEASE. Nobody asks anymore 😀

No Halloween theme here.  My colors are navy, charcoal, and hot pink.  There’s going to be candles and fireplaces….I guess that’s fall themed?? When people suggest things such as carving the word ‘love’ into pumpkins, I just say, “That’s an idea, I just don’t think it will fit into my color scheme.”

I get asked that as well! Ours is going to be peacock-inspired so not quite halloweenish. My FI loves Star Wars and I get asked all the time if we’re going to dress up for the ceremony. I just laugh it off and say not quite our cup of tea.

@CheesetomyWhine: OK, I read your thing and I was like, where did my avatar go!? Then I realized that wasn’t “my” post! lol

We are going to enter the reception to a light-saber arch though 😉

How funny!

Also a 10-30-10 bride, and we got these comments a lot at first…but now not so much. It bothered me at the beginning b/c we aren’t so much into Halloween, but now when people say “oh, the day before Halloween!” I tell them to come as their favorite ghost or vampire…in which case, I get a weird look or a laugh, and that’s usually the end of it. Doesnt’ bother me anymore. I’m actually growing quite fond of our date. It’s two days after our “dating” anniversary. (And the later in the year in south Louisiana, the more chance of it actually being cool weather outside.)

I am also a 10-30-10 bride.  I got a lot of these in the beginning and I just told people if they wanted to be the only one wearing a costume go for it!!  We picked this day because it is our anniversary.  So it will remain the same after the wedding.

When are you guys going to send out your invitations?  Mine are all ready to go, I figured I would wait until mid -end august with an RSVP of Sept 30??

10/30 was our ORIGINAL date. I hated hearing how some people wouldn’t even attend, because “you know, the kids might be tired the next day from Trick or Treating” WHAT??? Anyway, that’s not why I changed my date.

I was going to have a candy buffet for the kids though and those masquerde masks in our centerpieces, but that’s as halloween-y as I would ever get !
