Meeting with our cake lady was one of the funniest things we’ve done so far. It was a really tough decision deciding on cake.. we didn’t want to go SUPER far out there with flavors, but we wanted to have a little variety.
We are having 8 cakes in total, on a cake stand just like this one :
The cakes will alternate between being ruffles and rosettes, like these :
All of the cakes will be white, these are the flavors for chose :
6″ cake : vanilla/chocolate marble w/ vanilla filling
8″ cake : carrot cake [no raisens!] w/ cream cheese filling
8″ cake : red velvet cake w/ cream cheese filling
10″ cake : french vanilla cake w/ raspberry filling
10″ cake : french vanilla cake w/ vanilla filling
12″ cake : milk chocolate cake w/ bavarian creme filling
12″ cake : milk chocolate cake w/ peanut butter filling
14″ cake : milk chocolate cake w/ chocolate ganache filling

jenilynevette: Looove that you are having so many flavours for people to choose from!
We are doing two small teirs like below in chocolate with fondant
Then we are having a bunch of cupcakes (half will be chocolate and the other half will be vanilla) with buttercream frosting

This is our cake. We are adding quilting to each tier and bling and brooches on some of the flowers between tiers. But this is pretty much it. And this is at our venue so we know it’ll fit 🙂
We are probably going to have to get one less tier because we want it up the stairs rather than where it is in the picture, but we haven’t taken measurements yet so we don’t know for sure.
Our flavors are, Vanilla Hazelnut crunch, Chocolate chocolate and Pistachio.

- Wedding: October 2014 - Disney
We discussed Cake yesterday with my planner.
The two prime flavors are:
Pumpkin with Chocolate Mousse Filling
Chocolate with Raspberry Mousse Filling
The optional if they cant do the first is:
Almond with White Chocolate Orange Mousse Filling
We will be having a mad hatter cake aka topsy turvy. It will be mostly purple and black with orange pumpkins and touches of green. It may have elements from haunted mansion with the nightmare before christmas but we wont know until we get there.
My cake is a little more difficult because it is also gluten free.

dewingedpixie: Well, pistachio is different. I personally didn’t care for it much, but….. my FI is middle eastern and they are used to eating desserts with that flavor. Otherwise I probably would’ve picked something else but it isn’t only my wedding. He has to have a say as well haha.

Oh and Almond with white chocolate orange mousse filling sounds freaking delish!!!

Cake is included in the package our venue provides, so we’ll be having a meeting three months prior (which is in about a month!) to decide on this as well as the overall menu. I am gunning for a croquembouche, but I don’t know if the boy will have it! If I were choosing a cake from an external vendor, I would love to go with a macaron tower. So sweet and pretty!

I was so excited about meeting our cake lady – we’d had their cupcakes at a wedding fair and they were delicious!
We’re having three tiers – bottom tier Chocolate, middle is Angel Cake and top is Lemon. The design will be like this one:
But with rough frosting instead of fondant icing, like this one:

MrsPiggles: I’m curious about the engineering of that cake tower…is each tier cake or are some of them foam/fillers? The bling, brooches, and all those tiers, sound like they would be a lot of weight for the bottom tier to support.

WestCoastV: The whole thing minus the bottom tier is styrofoam. That’s the new thing they are doing around here. You can make a more intricate cake, much much larger than usual….but it is not real. What you do is, once we cut the cake (the real tier) they take the whole thing to the back to “cut” it. The actual cake that will be served is cake sheets that are already being cut in the back of the venue.
Unfortunately that is pretty much the only option we had with the amount of guests that are attending out wedding. That, or fork out thousands of dollars on a cake from Buddy.

This will be ours:
Cupcake flavours will be: white velvet with white chocolate buttercream (the cutting cake will also be this flavour), chocolate mud cake with peanut butter buttercream, butter cake with salted caramel buttercream, and lemon blueberry with cream cheese frosting

This is the inspiration pic our cake lady has. We are still clueless about what flavors. We can choose 3 and I’m thinking to do the bottom layer in a “classic favorite” and then do the other 2 in our favorites. what do ya’ll think, and what flavors would you recommend?

I don’t have pictures (yet). But I diy’d cakestands with goblets and glass plates. flowers will go in the middle and cupcakes around the edge. we will have a 2 tier cake to cut at our table instead of the cupcakes.<br />We are going with butter cake, cheesecake filling and probably a butter cream – very luxe for us. The cup cakes themselves will be vanilla and chocolate flavor with either teal frosting or white.

jenilynevette: Oh man that sounds awesome! I’m not October (August) but love cake so felt compelled to comment lol.
We’re having a 4 tier cake to serve 100 with the following tiers (from the top): fruit; toffee; double chocolate; lemon sponge with lemon buttercream. Then we’re having a cutting cake to serve 40 which will be vanilla sponge with raspberry jam and buttercream, and then 12 gluten-free cup-cakes for our coeliac guest. We only have 90 guests so I’m hoping there’ll be loads left over lol 😉
