Personal touches? Extra added fun? Super special vows? Let’s hear it!
Many of what we are doing are pretty standard on the Bee, but are pretty much unheard of in circle of family/friends.
We are doing :
– cocktail hour
– photo booth
– candy buffet
– cigar bar
– late night snack
– bon fire & outdoor seating area
I’m taking on many DIY projects, including the save the dates & invites.. can’t wait to post them.

@jenilynevette: when we first met, we were working together and used to email jokes to each other. One day, we spent the entire day emailing “walked into a bar” jokes back and forth. It was silly, but loved it. So, I’m collecting a bunch of those jokes, printing and rolling them into little individual scrolls on tables for guests to read.

we are taking pictures before the ceremony so we are around for cocktail hour and there aren’t hours when guests are just waiting around.

@jenilynevette: I think mine will be different because its in Vegas and will be intimate seated dinner for 20-30 of our closest friends and family. I foresee it being a nice family vacation ( of sorts) with our family getting to know each other over a few days not just one night. Can’t wait!!!

@jenilynevette: We have a lot of personal touches we are thinking of including.
My two favorite ideas so far are:
Writing our first dance song together (we are both musicians/song writers)
Having legos as part of our center pieces and other fun table games

@jenilynevette: Our biggest unique touches soo far are:
We are having an old fashioned popcorn stand as our late night treats to give out! Which I have never seen! but we are super excited about it! We also maybe adding big soft preztles with a variety of toppings and dips into the late night option!
we are not doing typical October colors and decorations! We will have no leaves in our decor….
our reception is in an old time opera house vs the traditional (in our area atleast) hotel ballroom/church gym….
other then that we are just keeping things classy and simple!

@foxtrot: That is super sweet!
@senglish0410: The anniversary dance for the bouquet is a really good idea! And cupcakes!
@soinlove79: I love wedding vacations, they are really lovely and personal.
@Anna10-05-2014: Writing your own first dance song would be amazing! And you’d have a song for life!
@kansas_nurse: Oh, totally understand about the fall colors. We aren’t doing them either.. or anything to do with fall, really. The pretzels would be fantastic! I don’t think I know a single person who don’t like pretzels. Opera houses are great! I had looked at a few but they had super crazy restrictions [like no flowers, at all!]

@jenilynevette: yeah I was glad we found it….their only restrictions were dont ruin anything and no chocolate fountain…..(which i understood after she showed me the pics they keep on hand for why!! ugh they had to replace carpet (luckily bride and groom were rich!))….and the only other restriction is that because there are very expensive things in there that our reception coordinator is an Opera House staff member (she will cut our cake and everything and help get vendors in and out! so sweet!) and that since we elected to have alcohol at our reception that we have an opera house security gaurd on site who will also help make sure there are no drunken antics or people getting crazy breaking things…..and help people in and out of the building esp handy for our elders in our family!!
the only decor restrictions i have is only soy candles and no holes in the walls!

@kansas_nurse: Wow! Those aren’t bad at all. The chocolate fountain thing made me wonder until you mentioned the carpet. That’s horrible!
@jenilynevette: yup….i guess they had a drunk fest and people were outta hand by ut and the two chocolate fountains they had got knocked over all over the carpet…..no plastic or anything under neath….they dound drips and splots of chocolate everywhere!
