I’m having a REALLY hard time finding a first dance song. Honestly, I could do without a first dance as I find them sort of strange.. and me and FH are not big dancers.. so there will be the whole lame swaying thing going on, but my mother says we MUST do it [well, I decided we probably do it].
I’m having the hardest time finding a song that is meaningful to us, by an artist we can stand [I am mainly a alternative/metalcore/punk/emo listener, but I do enjoy more current pop type music, and FH is heavy metal/metacore]. This has presented an obstacle for us!
I’ve found one that I like, but I’m just not sure. Lately, I’ve been a little obsessed with Ed Sheeran and his “Lego House” song would be perfect.. but is it too fast for a slow dance song?
What are my fellow October Brides using?

We are dancing to “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. We wanted something different that not a lot of people would choose. Of course Zillow.com started using it for a commercial recently and now it’s being listed as a suggestion in bridal magazines!

We’re going with “Baby,” by Devendra Banhart – it’s short (just over three minutes), so the embarrassment time will be minimal, and it’s not too slow, so we’ll be able to move a little bit 🙂

Not an October bride, but mine is’ The Story’ by Brandi Carlisle, it has some rock elements but isn’t too fast. Its a romantic, killer song

We’re using Love You ‘Til The End by The Pogues. Its a little long, so I was going to edit it a bit in Audacity to make it shorter (no one, no matter how much they love us, will want to watch us dance for almost 5 minutes). Lol

We’re doing Elvis Costello’s cover of The Very Thought of You. First time I heard it I knew that would be the one.

Ours is called “So Close” by Jon McLaughlin. It is the soundtrack of the Disney movie “Enchanted”.

We haven’t decided if we are going to do one yet either. We aren’t really dancers either. If we do, we’ll dance to ‘Leather and Lace’ by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley.

After many months of going over songs… me wanting one where the lyrics are just perfect, and FI wanting a “shredder” he can hear on the radio – I got him to go with “Follow Through” by Gavin DeGraw.
We had seen him in concert this past July, where he actually did play this song – so I told him that was better than hearing a song on the radio any day. We heard it LIVE!! Granted, I was on the floor of the venue he was playing at, and FI was in the balcony with friends (I wanted to be close, love Gavin!!)… it counts!
