Just wondering who has sent STD's and who is still waiting, I am torn between sending them relatively soon, and sending them at about the 6 month mark.
I might be getting a reeeeally good deal on some STDs done by a friend, so we might send them out at 6 mos, but then again, we may decide we don't want to bother :P
We'll be sending ours in late March..A little before the exact 6 month date, but I work for an accountant and April is HELL because of tax season. I'd rather not have to worry about them then!
you should add another choice - haven't sent them YET instead of 6 months. we're sending after we get our e-pics back (taking them in a few weeks), so about 7 months out. we have a lot of people starting to contact us, i guess worried they're not invited!
I sent them around Christmas time. I tried to kill 2 birds with one stone so I combined our STD's with our Christmas card! They were a hit!
Depending on when your wedding is and what kind of style you are going with, you could always incorporate them into some kind of Valentines Day card. Good luck!
I'm late September too! Ours are ready to go but are being dropped in the mail on March 1st. Our engagement party is the last weekend in February and I don't want to 1. bombard people with wedding mailings and 2. confuse them.
Well, since it seems like a bunch of people have already sent them, maybe I should get on the ball with this and get mine out sooner rather than later! So EXCITED!
I'm sending them in Feb or March, whenever my step mom finishes the design and I figure out how to get them printed and packaged!
I'm in the process of addressing them now, and trying to get them sent next week. We are October 1, but a "destination" wedding in that 95% of the guests will be travelling, so I wanted to send them sooner rather than later. I have already had people asking about flight and hotel details!
I am either late September or early October but no... I have to wait a while (until I get a date)
An "other" option would be helpful since thats there I fall. We haven't sent them yet but I'm planning to in the next few weeks. I'm shooting for before the end of February.
We haven't sent them yet, but not because we're waiting for the 6 month mark. It's just because I haven't picked out any of my "paper" yet - STDs, invites, etc. That is next on my to-do list!
We sent ours out at the end of December because we were already getting family and friends asking about our date so they could request off work at the beginning of the New Year.
I put mine in the mail yesterday! We are having our wedding on Sunday of a holiday weekend and 95% of our guests are from out of town. We wanted to get them out early to give people a heads up that it was a Sunday night and not a Saturday.
I'll be sending mine out in the next two weeks (IF I can get FMIL to give me the addresses I've been asking for since November - I'm seriously considering shipping all of the STD post cards for her family to her and making her address them) ... but 95% of our guests will have to fly to our wedding AND it has the possibility of being homecoming weekend at the local university making hotel blocks super important to get done early.
I've made them, but am waiting until March to send them out. Very few people are from out of town, so making travel arrangements isn't a huge deal.
I posted a few days ago saying that we would be sending ours out in a few weeks but we actually will be sending them out in the next few days. A number of our close family and friends have already received STD's for weddings in October so people are definitely already sending them out. We're also getting married Columbus Day weekend so we wanted to make sure our guests STD before making plans for that weekend.
We got ours in last week and we are going to hand them out to our family and friends we often see until March then send out the remaining cards!
Will be ordering my STD's the end of this month, and they will go out the last week of March.
I just sent mine on Feb 8th for a October 15th wedding. I was going to wait but I have another wedding to attend on October 1st, the following weekend is Columbus Day (Oct 10th) and then our wedding which is at the beach, in a tourist spot is the weekend after the holiday. So i opted to send them early.
I'm giving them out (not sending) this weekend. Our wedding is on Canadian Thanksgiving Long Weekend, so I have to make sure that people know and plan accordingly.
I don't know if we're sending them or not. We haven't had our e-pics done and will probably not do that until April (at the earliest). Might just use word of mouth.

I sent mine out Friday so most people would have them for Valentines day. A little earlier than expected, but they turned out really cute and I'm glad to be done with them! Work is getting cray cray.
I just got engaged on Sunday, so I'm behind on a lot of things. We're waiting until the 6 month mark thought for STDs. It is OOT, but only about half an hour to two hours (depending on which side of the city you're on), so I'm not too worried about it.
Also, I'm scheduled to take the GRE next week, so other than the occaisional check in on the 'bee, I'm not doing any planning! Off to study now as a matter of fact!
I just ordered some samples today.. I pretty much know what I want but wanted to see the actual paper ahead of time, so once that comes I will order and send them... So I am waiting, but not for 6 month mark.. just for things to get here!
I'm getting mine in this week and hopefully that means sending them out soon! I wasn't even going to do them, but I want to be on peoples fridges! =P
I was going to send them in April which is approximately 6 months before the wedding.
We aren't sending any because we're busy enough as it is and we'd like to cut down the costs. Since a lot of our guests own a computer, we might send out STD emails as soon as we book the reception venue and lock in the date.
I am actually going to be a little behind, our engagement pictures are on april 17th... and it takes 2 weeks to get them so i will be sending mine the first week of May so 5 months :/ oh well!!!
I just sent our proofs back to the printer today. We should have the next, and hopefully final round, of proofs next week, which means we will be mailing them just shy of the 6 month mark, exactly as planned. It's a small wedding, so all of our guests already know the date anyway. But we wanted a visual reminder for everyone, and I will take any excuse that I can get to visit the stationary store. :)
@BellBride: I'm on the same boat! We just took our on Saturday, so they wont be out a few more weeks.
Ours are sent =) Half the guests are traveling from out of town (FI's side of the family.. wedding is in my hometown and only my aunt who lives in FL has to travel for our side of the family) so we wanted to make sure people had plenty of time to find/book/etc hotels
and i was sort of over-excited and couldnt wait to send something out 
I know I already replied, but that was 2 moths ago. My Save The Dates were sent out the last week of March- FINALLY:)
