jenilynevette:  our budget has gone up to 90k….. By the time everything is said and done it’ll be closer to 100k.

We didn’t have a budget to begin with and with the size of this shindig, it was expected to be this much.

however…… This also includes our 25k honeymoon.

yeah, ridiculous if you ask me……..

jenilynevette:  no that is all us…….. I’m sure his parents will give us a very large check as a wedding gift which will probably cover the entire cost or most of it… But obviously we aren’t counting on it to pa. For the wedding.

And it is both…… We live in Los Angeles which doesn’t help on the price……. But the wedding is pretty out there too. 500 guests, massive extravagant venue….. Typical middle eastern all out wedding.

Needless to say….. We are more excited for the honeymoon than the actual wedding. We already live together and might as well be married….and we are both very simple people. We are having such a large event for tradition more than anything.

You did really good on yours! staying within budget on weddings seems almost impossible!!

Right on target, mainly because we had 10 last minute declines, after saying they would come (surgeries, health things, etc.). Otherwise we would have been over. Our budget is 60k, excluding honeymoon. We also aren’t doing anything over the top. Only 115 guests, beer and wine at the reception, only 3 passed apps during the cocktail hour, and not much floral. I still don’t understand how it costs so much, when I have been looking for deals on everything, and I have done a lot of DIY! Just a pricey place to get married I guess. I think we will probably spend 10k on the honeymoon. We splurged a bit on photography and videography (8k total on that) and the transport cost more than expected.

We are over by almost 4k with a 25k original budget not including my dress or honeymoon. A lot of people still have not sent in their RSVPs so who knows how much more it will go over by. As much as I tried to think of everything when creating the budget, it seems like it’s hard to include everything and some things just cost a lot more than I hoped.

We are currently under budget but I can’t say certainly how much under since we r still waiting for rsvps to come in. Today is the closing date for them so I should know soon. But we wanted to save everywhere we could. E.g we are having the venue make our cake & serve it as the only desert. By that only we saved 4000 South African Rand (around 400 $). We have a cash bar. This is the practice in my region. It’s either dry or cash bar. But we are providing wine and soft drinks free. We are not using any fancy cars. Our car will do just fine. We have splurged on photography though. It’s the most important thing to us.  I’m tracking every cent we spend on an excel spreadsheet & I’m planning to do a budget recap once the wedding is over just to give a South African perspective.

We budgeted 10k for our wedding after increasing that from 5k….we are at about 7k for total budget and have about $900 left to pay off….(freaking photography bumped our end total up with a last minute photographer swap…ugh)…..

so we are defenitely under budget but i still feel redikulous spending this kind of money for one day….oh well at the end of the day ill be married to my best friend…..is the mantra im repeating in my head over and over when i panic about the money we are spending…

Our wedding budget was originally $15k, but after searching for a venue that was well under-budget that would allow us to bring our own food and beverages, plus negotiating with our photographer to slightly lower her fees, it looks like we will be just under $12k (based on a few more things we have to pay for).

That doesn’t include our honeymoon though, which is coming in at $4k (so totalling everything, we’re just over our original, wedding-only budget). Our original honeymoon budget was $3k, but after saving so much money with the wedding, we wanted to splurge a little bit more.

jenilynevette:  We’re maybe 2.5K over the original budget from my parents, but that’s included things like the church wanting £400 (we thought it would be more like £70, since that’s what the church we did our prep at asked for). The venue price should drop though because it was estimated on us having the maximum number of guests, and now we’re looking to be down 13 people from that, which will help a bit!

Including money FH and I have put in, as well as money other family members have gifted us, we’re a bit more than that over, but to be fair a lot of the expense is because my mum nixed my money-saving ideas! Like not having a cake, or not getting a car. Now we’re getting a cake and 2 cars. And everyone’s getting a buttonhole. But then, she and my Dad have put the money forward because they didn’t want to wait as long as it would take for us to save for a wedding, and when I mention the budget they tell me not to mind, so they’re the bosses!

My parents genorously gave us $10K to use towards the wedding for whatever, and his parents are picking up the cost of their guests’ meals at thee reception as well as some other details that they have stated that they will pick up. We have also paid for some stuff on our own.

I haven’t gotten actual numbers from my parents yet as to where we’re at… but I am confident that we are WELL under that amount at the moment – even after full payments will be made to the venue for everything. My parent said that whatever is leftover from their amount, we can keep… so I’m keeping that in mind for everything we have them pay for.

I wish I would have kept better track of everything that I have purchased – like the times I’d go to a store and just pick something up… but I didn’t. I’ve mainly focused on the big stuff rather than the small stuff – which will more than likely add up in the end.

If we come out of this spending between $10-12K – I think that’s great!
