You sound like you're on track! I'm at about the same place -- currently talking to DJs and florists and sorting out bridesmaids dresses.
My approach is generally to take each thing as it comes, and don't worry about what's next until it comes up on your schedule. I'm finding it fairly stress-free so far. I don't know how long that will last!
don't fret!! i'm a september bride and i think you're one up on me on some of planning items!! you've got the big items down, you'll get everything else in with NO rush...

I am a May bride... and I got engaged in October. I had less time to plan for the entire thing than you even have left! I am sure that you are doing great! :)
Don't stress.. you have like 3 seasons until your wedding, you're doing good! I don't even have a clue what my invites will look like yet... eep!
Thanks girls! I figured I was just having one of those days where I was overwhelmed with work, wedding, and other life happenings. I just needed to get some reassurance to make me feel better about things! :)

Sounds like you are right on track! I'm at about the same place... trying to figure out the florists and bridesmaid dresses.
We are still considering getting married at the end of Oct 2010, haven't set a date yet. Are planning on going out and visiting some venues and see if that is even an option later this month.
My question is, if I pretty much have everything decided in my mind what I want, is now too late to be planning an Oct 2010 wedding? I plan on being an easy going bride and not stressing out too much, but I'm worried that I might be setting myself up for disaster with such a short planning period.
Any advice, opinions???
I think you are in great shape! My date is 10.16.10 and I am just now finishing up booking all of our vendors.
@ablet: I've had a number of friends who planned gorgeous weddings in less than 9 months. If you want to make it happen I am sure you can!
I'm 10/16/10 and I'm just starting to look at rehearsal dinner places, hotels, and bridesmaid dresses.
Where is everyone going for the honeymoon? With all of the other planning, the honeymoon has taken a back seat. We are going to Hawaii, but have no idea about the what islands or fun things to do. Anyone been to Hawaii?
You're not behind at all! Our date is 10/2/10 and so far we have our ceremony and reception site. Our caterer, photographer, DJ, florist and baker. We have a meeting with the officiate coming up and hopefully that will mark another box off my list. Our venues are extremely popular in this area so we started pretty early to get them both at the same time. I haven't even started on STDs or Invites. I hope to get those ordered by next month, so I'm feeling a little behind there. I picked a dress faster than I'm picking these darn invites! We probably won't have our engagement photos taken until this summer and we haven't even been able to get the bridesmaids dresses ordered yet. It sounds like you are good to go!

Okay ladies, maybe I"m just having one of those days where I get stressed out very easily, but I feel like I'm really behind in my wedding planning. We're getting married on 10/16/10. I've already booked the venue for the wedding and reception, booked our cake lady, booked a photographer, and I have my dress. I'm currently working out pricing with the caterer. I've designed my STDs, but I'm waiting on our engagement pictures (we're taking them this Saturday... the first time was rescheduled). I guess maybe I feel so stressed because there is so much left to do... but I wanted to check with other October brides to see if I was really behind in planning things for our special day or if I was just getting myself worked up...
