    Hi October Brides!

I'm curious as to who has or has not decided on bridesmaid dresses.  What designer/dress color are your ladies wearing?  I'm in much need of inspiration.

We are doing Bill Levkoff 679 in the Pewter color (it looks more charcoal gray than bluey-gray in person0:

I have hit a wall. I found these cute floral patterned dresses, but the seller on Etsy doesn't do custom orders so thats out. Then I decided on wrap dresses, there are tons on Etsy. But I don't know what color, and I really had my heart set on floral vintage-y dresses. The guys are wearing chocolate tuxes so I have no idea even what color dresses to go with. I need help too!

I actually chose and bought the BM dresses back in November. The color of the dress is burgundy and I wanted to make sure that I would have plenty of options so I got them then while they were in season.

Had I waited until now, I wouldn't have much option because I purchased my BM dresses from a department store.

I haven't picked yet - one BM suggested a twobirds dress, but they're so expensive and she's the one i was worried about financially. dessy has a version of it, so i may just ask them to each pick a dessy dress of their choice in a specific color, fabric & length.

We went shopping as a group together in Jan but no decisions yet on my part. We took pics but I wasn't really feeling them later on, we were all over the place though with styles. I am still yet to purchase my gown so will wait til I find one, which will be this month I feel. For colors I'm thinking plum. Mori Lee has a really nice plum I would like to get and they have very nice styles. I've checked stores sites like jcrew, limited, nordstrom but they were just ok. I also have been to DB. I'm disapointed in David's purple colors, they are more purple rather then the rich plum I'm looking for.

We havent' ordered but I think we're going with dresses from Alfred Sung that can be found on dessy.com.  I'm letting them pick any style as long as it's cocktail length.  We're going with the color Majestic which is a darker purple.  I'm hoping to find them cheaper online than the salon where we tried them on.

@elliestan - One thing the woman at the bridal store said to me after I bought my dress and we were looking at one of the convertible dresses like the twobirds is that they can sometimes be hard to get the hang of in creating the different styles and is that one thing you want to worry about on your wedding day?  I guess if you go that route, have your BM's practice putting on their dresses a lot in the days leading up to the day.  I do love those dresses!!

@sweetiejewels - you and I are completely different as I'm loving the dark purples and get frustrated that everyone else seems to be having the plums.  Have you tried Ann Taylor?

@MUI831- I will check Ann Taylor. They have nice stuff and somewhat conservative. My MOH is 40 and one of my maids is 31 and married so they don't want too short or too much cleavage, meanwhile my other is  18 and loves it all.

I'm leaning towards this dress. The picture looks red but the color is actually burnt orange to coordinate with our fall theme. It's Alfred Angelo...

@CaitMarae- That is a great choice, I love that color, very fall. I am thinking long dresses also.

In a preliminary talk about my dresses one request of my size 14 maid was something flowy or loose  in the waist so it hides her belly. I've been keeping that into consideration. The other 2 maids are size 2-4 so have no issues. I've seen some flowy chiffon stuff that looks good, even those bubble hems if we go shorter can be concealing.

Anyone else dealing with different body types?

We haven't chosen yet, and won't for a while, but I'm pretty sure we are going to go with a mori lee tafeta dress in a purple color.

I went shopping with my bridesmaids this past weekend and spent 4 hours in the mall to no avail.  I wanted to pull my eyeballs out by the end of it.

@Maifuture- Can you post the style of the dress you are going for? I like these so far, I would choose this vintage plum color. Like I said before 1 bridesmaid is a size 14 but losing weight so I'm trying to get no too clingy in the waist for her. The other 2 are a size 2 and 4. I'm still not sure on long or short. I haven't seen any of these in person yet.

Ladies let me know what you think!! Thank you :)

I checked out Dessy online and liked the Alfred Sung line in Italian Plum and the Dessy line in Bordeaux or Aubergine.  I guese the next step will be to get at least one bridesmaid to go look with me.  Only two are local and we have such wacky schedules it's pretty tough to coordinate.  Does anyone know anything about Wtoo?  They look so pretty online.

@mshogie- looks like we are looking for the same colors! They are hard to find. I tell people, not purple, but plum, eggplant, aubergine, whatever they want to call it!

@katebydesign- I did the first brideamaid shop myself too and it was really crazy! I got home with a headache and said I needed to get my dress first before I do this again. My MOH was in pageants and she was picking out stuff I didn't like but wanted to try it on "just for fun", so just imagine being caught in between that! It is stressful! I'm glad I did it once but I know I need to now narrow the pool for them for the next shop!

@sweetiejewels: I actually also have a larger sized bridesmaid who is losing weight and another who is around size 8 I would guess. I am hoping to have them in different dresses in the same color. Vintage plum from the affairs line or wisteria from the Angelina Faccenda line.

One of them really likes this one (in the purple of course):

And then I'm thinking a one shoulder for the other since it might help to have the extra support:

October Bridesmaids : wedding bridesmaid dress Img0 Vintageplum

others I am looking at (hoping its a better purple color irl):

@maifuture- These are very nice choices. I like that first one with the bow, I could see my 18yr old maid loving it but not my 40 year old. I think the one shoulder is cute, the consensus between them was they prefer strapless or straps. That purple taffeta is very rich, almost irridescent. Thanks for posting these!

    @MaiFuture:

I was originally planning on having my girls wear the tea length, mori-lee taffeta like you posted but after seeing it in person, I hated the color (it would have been the orange that they carry). Definitely check it out in person before getting attached like did. I was pretty bummed that I had to start the search all over again.

@UpstateCait: yeah, I'm not set on anything for sure until we go look, but they want to wait until later because they are both activly trying to lose weight right now. That means all I have right now is internet pictures. Love the tea length in general though.

I just ordered my BM's gown. I went with Alfred Angelo style # 7131 in Wine. My one BM has very large breasts (42DD) so any gown with an empire waist would not work for her. I wanted to find something along the wine/burgundy line of color. I LOVE all of the pics of the eggplant/aubergine gowns, and was thinking about changing my colors, but my BM's flowers have a lot of eggplant/ aubergine in them so if I chose eggplant for their gown, the flowers wouldn't work and would just blend in. I think the flowers next to the wine color will really make the gown pop.

What do you think? These are the flowers and this is their gown (in wine of course)

The other 2 BM's are going to go try on this dress also, but I told them if they did not like it or was not in their price range they are welcome to pick another dress as long as it is the same color and length.

@MUI831: I'm not worried about it. I have a convertible dress and it's pretty easy - they're big girls and I trust them to know how to put on a dress. :] btw, bestbridalprices has the dresses you mentioned for cheaper.

My two sisters have gotten theirs; we ordered them back in January. My junior bridesmaid still needs to get hers but I'm not sure if her mom is buying it or making it. I wanted a dress that would fit all of them and with my sisters on opposite ends (ones size 0 the other size 22) I went with an A-line from Alfred Angelo in tealness. It looked beautiful on them.

@CaitMarae- We almost went with that same dress (the first one you posted) in burnt orange, for our fall themed wedding!  But I have three red-headed bridemaids, so we thought maybe it would be too much orange :).  Instead, all my girls will be going with Bill Levkoff 678 in Wine...  With orange flowers :)

girls are wearing these. I don't care what way they wrap them on the day. It'll be in her "steel" colour, which is a dark silvery gray.

We are having a small wedding and wedding party, so I only need to concern myself with my MOH. She is my SIL and we have a very similar sense of style. I told her that anything plum or dark gray was fine by me. Every once in a while she will send a dress pic to me for my opinion, and they have all been lovely so far. She is trying to lose some post-baby weight and has asked to delay shopping until late spring, so that's what we are doing. The current front runner is a grey, lace, cap sleeve cocktail dress from Macys.
