wanting a rustic theme using mason jars, floating candles, crates, burlap, lace, dark orange gerber daisies, chalk boards really set the mood. think I can pull this off in gym? i hope so

i had a spring ranch wedding! you can make it work anywhere with little vignettes and details to pull it all together. found this blog that showcases farm weddings and i’m sure you can pull some details and make it work for your space!

I think you could totally pull it off! Especially once all of your small details are put together for one big final picture 🙂

I think you can definitely pull it off! We are also having a rustic October wedding, but our colors are rust orange and sage green with little hints of chocolate brown. We also wanted a barn, but couldn’t get one, so we got a reception hall that reminds me of a barn, and are filling it up with mason jars, candles and burlap. Now, because of all those similarities, I may be biased, but I think your reception will be beautiful!

i agree….i may also be biased..wedding colors are chocolate brown, cinnamon and lime green. table decor mason jars & burlap overlays. I also couldn’t find a barn venue that i could afford, so we are having the ceremony & reception at a golf club that is actually a restored victorian era farm. I think with the right details, you can get the rustic feel wherever your blank slate is!

- Wedding: October 2012 - Watch tower lodge, Black hawk state Park Rock Island, IL
its def in the details, my sister had her wedding in the church gym but one thing they did was they hung iccicle lights all around the walls of the gym about 9 ft up or so…all the way around and then overlayed it with tulle, turned off the lights and the whole room was lit with this soft glow, totally made it look NOT like a gym.

I think one of the challenges of being in a gym will most likely be lighting, which could be quite bright and harsh. You could contact an event lighting company to inquire about having some more moody lighting set up, which will have more impact than anything else. Any kind of exposed wood furniture would also help create a rustic mood.
Wood slabs as centerpieces and for general decor is one of my favorites for a rustic wedding. Maybe even a few tree stumps littered around for seating/decor? Also, you could consider adding “cozy” accents like plaid fleece blankets as favors or in case anyone gets chilly at the ceremony or a bowl with cider instead of punch. I saw a pin where one bride filled mason jars with hot chocolate and rimmed them with cinnamon sugar for guests. Organized clutter is also a staple of that sort of indie rustic vibe. You could scour flea markets or yard sales for old lanterns, assorted vases, vintage photo frames, etc.

@SuperDuperBrit: I just wanted to say I think it’s great that you have a whole board just for mason jars. And I’ll probably be stealing like 10 ideas from it. lol 🙂
