jane.davis.7334: I loove Black wedding dresses! I modelled one once, and it was amazing… so I guess I’m a little biased! If I could change something about my wedding, I would have chosed a black dress for sure!

Its everything I wouldn’t have picked for myself … BUT I still think its beautiful … I doesn’t feel bridal to me but, thats only my perception of what I feel bridal is and my opinion means squat if this is what will make you feel beautiful 🙂 and sure you will be …as a design I think its works wonderfully ( my only concern is where the black rosettes will start might be unflattering but I’m not sure I’m no expert) and I cant wait to see it

I think there is too much black on the skirt. It’s very over powering. I don’t really like how high the neck line is, but like the lace. But if you love it and that’s what you want, then go for it!

I love the first one you posted with the corset top but I feel like that last picture has too much happening the high neckline and big skirt combined with the lace and the ruffles and the rhinestones, it’s just a lot. Like I said I do like the first one I think it would be better to have the focus be on the black and white and not the have busy materials on top of that.

Would the lace from the high neckline cover the entire bodice? If that’s the case, what if the lace was black, but the corset was still white? I think the stark contrast between the bodice and skirt is what’s throwing me.

I like it, but I think there’s a lot going on…I’d leave the lace neckline off. I kind of love the first dress just the way it is.

jane.davis.7334: i LOVE the second dress, though I dont know if i love the white top black bottom..maybe some sort of ombre? Starting with white at the top and fading to black could look really cool, IDK tho Im no fashion expert. I do think rhinestones in the middle of the flowers might be too much

Have you actually tried on anything like this? I only ask because I work at a bridal store and most of the time when girls bring in photos of what they want they leave with something completely different. Just don’t want you to have a custom gown made then you hate it.
Venus Bridal has a similar style minus the black you could at least try on for style to make sure you do like it before you have an entire dress made.
Also I might go to some stores and actually try on some different styles of black/white dresses just to make sure you are not limiting yourself (and in case you don’t end up liking the above style)

There is just too much going on and it doesn’t go together.

I think you might want to consider going a little more traditional- in theory it’s good to go custom and different… but you only get one wedding and you can play dress up any other time.

Your wedding sounds like a lot like mine! I’m getting married October 31st and my colors are eggplant, burgundy, and bronze. I am also wearing a black and white dress:

As much as black is unconventional for wedding dresses, I think it can work and be beautiful. What you’ve designed meshes all your favourite styles in one….which can be a bit overwhelming. I like the dress options another poster provided. But it’s your day. I personally find the white bodice and black skirt of dress 1 a bit too harsh. There are a number of designers who have created black themed dresses, so consider that also. And like I’ve seen with myself and friends, choosing a wedding dress sometimes requires trying on the dress. Some fabrics look lovely, but feel horrible when you actually get it on. I’m one to go with subtle blending of both colours. After all you don’t want the dress to be the spectacle, you want it to be you in your dress.

I think that its a lot going on. The high neck style tends to make your shoulders look narrower and the full skirt will make your bottom end look wider. Maybe a dropped waist would balance out the silhouette. The first dress you posted appeals to me the most. I love the idea of a black and white dress. The idea of black lace over a white corset would look great. Have you ever looked at the Enzoani Modeca line? The Oriel dress is a lovely black lace trumpet style. I am getting married next October too and wanted a black dress but my fiance opposed it. Its a second wedding so I won’t be wearing white anyway. MissComicBook, your dress is gorgeous.
