Anywhere tropical? Are you worried about hurricane season? Did you not choose a tropical place because of possible weather worries?
Where are you going??
It looks like right now we are going to book a Western Carribean cruise. I love the western carribean but i've only been there from dec-feb and have no idea what the weather is like early november. hopefully good!
That's actually what we want to do. I am concerned about weather also.
i've heard that may-nov is hurrican season and that aug-oct is peak, but i'm guessing end of oct, early-mid november should be fine...and i know the great thing about cruise ships is that they have great weather radar and can re-route if it's bad.
I thought that the summer and spring were peak. Wouldn't think alot of people would travel when it's cold.
We're going to St. Lucia-- I've heard that St. Lucia and Aruba are safer choices and we've already been to Aruba so St. Lucia it is!
We are doing a 2 week Caribbean cruise in December, chose to wait until after hurricane season and when the prices are lowest
We're throwing caution to the wind and heading to Jamaica (but to a resort with a very specific hurricane policy!)
although we haven't made the plans yet..we will be going to Aruba..we will be getting married in October and I have been told it is right smack in the middle of hurrican season so Aruba is the best place to go!
We are also throwing caution to the wind and honeymooning in Jamaica from Halloween thru Nov. 6th.
woo hoo! sounds like were not the only couple taking the risk. i hear, though, the chances of a storm hitting your specific spot is slim to none.
All you girls will have great sunshine!
We are having 2 weeks in the US -- NYC and California -- then 2 weeks in Australia staying with my family.
We're going to Hawaii. Definitely Maui and still debating on other islands.
We're going to Hawaii, the big island... too lazy to island hop.
I think we're going to go to Georgia in December (had to wait for my school break.) Neither of us has been so hopefully it will be fun! We are looking at staying at a place in the Blue Ridge Mountains....I hope it's not too cold to explore around the end of Dec!
We're going to Punta Cana. I was a little worried about the hurricanes but hopefully by mid-Oct it will be ok. I wanted Aruba initially but it was way more expensive. I got a great deal for the DR!
We are actually going on our mini-moon BEFORE the ceremony (for a couple of reasons). We are doing 4 days in Bangkok with an overnight on Koh Samet island. We are going in August, the rainy season! And I seem to bring the rain wherever I go!
We're doing a week in Portugal and a week in France.
We're driving to Florida.
If a hurrican decides to join us we'll just go somwhere else - wherever the car takes us.
It will be a complete surprise for me.. I'm guessing a warm island somewhere...
Getting married and honneymooning in Punta Cana- Nov. 3-10.
@stephinPA we will be in Jamaica the same exact week. We are Honeymoon twins.
We are thinking either Alaska or an Iceland/Sweden/Finland vacay. If we go this route we'd probably wait until December or January to go because then the weather would be ideal for all the fun stuff we want to do (husky trips, glacier climbing, snowshoeing, etc.) plus after a few months we could probably use the vacation :-)
We'll be going to Disney! For how long, I'm not 100% sure yet, probably 6 or 7 days. But yes, hurricane season is always a concern but hopefully it will be ok. Worse comes to worse, we'll figure it out.
Europe for us- Spain, France, Italy.
We were also considering Iceland, but after this volcanic activity I would rather just stick to our original plan. All of the natural disasters this year are starting to freak me out a little...
We're originally from Florida and getting married back at home, so we'll spend a couple days at the theme parks (yay - a half Disney honeymoon!) then we plan on flying back to Colorado and taking a roadtrip across the state visiting mountain towns, hiking and hot springing! We just moved out here in August 2008, and haven't spent much time outside of the Denver area, so we're excited to explore!
Being from Florida, I can ease your worries a little about hurricane season. In November, you should be fine. It would be quite the fluke for a November Hurricane to pop up (knocks on wood). Even October you should be fine... most happen June-September, at least from my memory. All of the big ones I can remember have been in August. The warmer the water, the more tropical activity.
I will say though - it's been an El Nino year and apparently that's going away before hurricane season. El Nino does a good job of quieting down the tropical forces, hence a couple quiet years in the Atlantic. However - with that pattern lifting, there's really no telling what this year will hold. Considering I'm getting married on Oct. 2 in Florida, I'm praying for no crazy hurricanes!
P.S. To the Disney person - you should have no worries. I remember Disney shutting down for a day a couple years ago during the craziest hurricane season ever (2004), but that was because Orlando was getting a direct hit. It's so inland that unless it's a Cat 4 hurricane - I'm sure Disney will be open! lol. Should be light crowds in that case too! LOL
8 day cruise in southern carribean in early November. I'm not worried about it, as it'll be my 6th cruise in the middle of hurricane season.
then a few days in miami afterwards to wind down.
we are doing a destination wedding and after the wedding we are renting a car and driving farther down the coast of FL for our honeymoon.
@ discoliz
Haha! Yes, this is true. Luckily it is off-season too, and kids are at school and so on so we won't have to worry about HUGE crowds, and hopefully it won't be terribly hot. :)
Tahiti - Moorea - Bora Bora for us and I cannot wait
I have to because we aren't going until February, haahaahaa
@ GingerCurls
I know!!! October rocks! It's a great time to hit up Disney. We're going to spend a couple days right after the wedding there - looking forward to the Food and Wine fest at Epcot!
A Resort in the Finger Lakes (New York State). Fall is really beautiful there, and we'll hit the peak foliage dead on. Typically it's not too cold that early in October (the 9th) yet, and I've got my sweetie to snuggle with!
We booked our honeymoon to Europe last week for October 2010 :)
We went with a mediterranean cruise on Princess. We'll stay our first night in Rome and then get on the ship with stops in Capri/Pompeii, Italy, Barcelona, Nice (Monaco/Cannes), Portofino, Florence/Pisa and then back to Rome.
With the cruise we were able to make our money go a lot further than I expected- our total trip with flights, transfers, lodging & meals is $5k.
we're heading for Jamaica the last week in October, I was worried too, but we went there last year in August and everything was fine, so we will have to keep our fingers crossed again!
We're going to Hawaii... Oahu, the Big Island, and either Kauai or Molokai
