This is going to seem like an odd question I imagine, but I’m just wondering if any of you have a dress which has a visible waist seam/join on the dress but it isn’t actually a feature of the dress? If you do, can I see pics please?
To explain – I bought a sample dress after falling in love with it when I tried it on, but having looked at dresses like it online, I see that the waist seam/join that I can see on my dress isn’t visible on other dresses and I’m actually wondering if my dress has been put together wrong & hence was a sample!! I am a bit confused by it as it looks a bit random but I don’t know if it is something that looks odd or I am just getting in a fuss for nothing. I have added pictures below to show you what I mean. I don’t really know how I could change it on my dress either! I have tried adding a sash to it to cover it, but because of the assymetrical material on the skirt it just looked odd. Any suggestions or help is welcome!

I think it looks fine, but if you’re self-conscious about it, what about a more fitted beaded belt or something instead of a sash? Might be worth trying!

I see what you mean….With the syle of your dress, it doesn’t look like it is supposed to be there…humm, but it honestly doesn’t look bad, and actually think it defines your waist even more 🙂

I don’t know what to say about the visible seam, but…
That dress is fab!

It’s actaully a really good point. I can’t say that I have noticed a visible seam on any other wedding dresses. I love your dress though, it’s absolutely stunning but it depends on whether you can put up with it or not.

It’s not supposed to look like that? I think it looks fine but then I don’t really know a lot about wedding dresses.

Do you have a picture of the dress on the model? Because then we can see what the waist is supposed to look like.

Thanks ladies, I just can’t decide if it looks ok or is ridiculous! I bought after not looking for that long, and then looked at more dresses online as I don’t know who the designer of my dress in – Maggie Sottero does one that looks very similar but it is definately not a maggie! The closest I can find is by a designer called Raylia (not sure who that is!) Hence, I can’t find actual pictures of my dress to see if it should be like that but I haven’t seen any other dresses with a seam like it so it does make me wonder! I’ve attached 2 pics of the dresses which are pretty much identical to it & thus make me think it isn’t mean to be like this!
I guess I’m wondering – does it look odd & like it shouldn’t be like that, or am I thinking that because I haven’t seen others like it and therefore assume it shouldn’t be there?

Ok i’m going to be honest and you may not like my response. the seam would drive me crazy! it doesn’t look so hot. I looks like the dress was put together with left over pieces of fabric as opposed to one large piece as the dress on the model. I’m not sure how to cover it up though because it’s not at your waist but rather on your hips.

@Meowkers: That is what I was worried about – I didn’t even notice it when I first bought it but later looking at photos/ the dress something didn’t look quite right and I realised what! It bothers me, but I’m not sure enough to get another dress until I see if I can sort this. I’m going to see what the seammistress can do with covering it somehow so it looks like the design, or this may be more expensive than another dress so a silly plan, but I’m actually wondering if the chiffon on the front of the dress could be replaced so the seam is on the satin, but under the chiffon which, with the ruching, would hopefully hide it. I shall see what the seammistress says but like you I do think it looks a bit out of place!

I might have to agree with Meowkers. The seam does not seem to look right….the dress is gorgeous though. See what the seamstress can do to fix it! If not, it really isnt that bad…good luck 🙂
