I’ll come clean here before I begin- I think I could stand to lose 20 lbs or so before my wedding next May. But I’m actually pretty happy with the way I look. Sure, I have “fat days,” but I have skinny days too. I can walk around in a bikini and feel okay. Am I alone here?!?!
Has anyone else noticed how crazy guys go over Christina Hendricks from Mad Men? Maybe Kim Kardashian, then, in spite of her “cellulite”? They look like a real woman, people. I asked my fiance about good ol’ Joan the other day, and he was like “Yeah, she looks awesome. There are way too many girls looking like skinny teenage boys out there.”
Now, if you’re naturally lean and toned, then that’s awesome- I’m sure, since that’s how your body is made, that you look beautiful and feminine. In fact, that’s how my body naturally is too- I’ve always been a swimmer with a small waist and natural lean muscle, but five too many glasses of red wine and trips to Chipotle means I could stand to lose a few. Still, I’m happy!!
I’m not bashing anyone who wants to be healthier or make positive lifestyle changes, but I feel like women (and brides in particular) are way too critical of themselves.
Your FI proposed, right?! He loves you, right?! Then have that glass of champagne or that piece of cheesecake if it’s what you want. If we all think “moderation” and love ourselves regardless, maybe indulging a bit here and there, isn’t that so much healthier and happier in the long run? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a bride who wasn’t beautiful. Smile at yourselves in the mirror, everybody 🙂
