OECs will show more color than RBs.  Though, you can get a Forever Brilliant enhanced stone.  I have an unenhanced OEC, but it never looks like it has a yellow or green tint.  Culet size is a personal preference.

@MissSweetiepie:  we actually just ordered my ring with a 1.25 fb oec, so I will post as soon as I get it! I’ve never seen anything but beautiful oec’s. Even with warmth. I got the enhancement just because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t TOO warm, I don’t mind a little but I didn’t want something that would have a yellow tinge so we shall see. I know it’s on its way, I’m so anxious lol.

@RedHeadKel:  well, I’m not totally positive but I believe it is about 10 days to make the ring and then shipping depends on which kind you choose. FI took care of that, so all I know is I will have my precious in a few days lol. As far as just the stone, I assume it would take much less time.

@MissSweetiepie:  Hi, I have an OEC moissanite and I love it! Mine’s 0.75ct (6mm I think). I originally had an RB moissanite but swapped it for an OEC. You can read more about the differences between the two in this comparison thread I did, if you’re interested! My RB was a lot more tinted than my OEC.

Mine is Forever Brilliant enhanced and I especially requested the whitest stone they had, with a small culet. Personally I don’t like the look of large culets. I never notice mine, it’s really small.

I have a 2.5 ct OEC FB Moissanite. Someone on this board described it really well to me that the OEC moissanite gives off “chunky”  flashes of light. It’s awesome! Even in the dark it finds something to sparkle off of. As for a “yellow” tint, I’m not really sure. I see a bit of yellow sometimes, but I have a rose gold band, so I think it’s just picking the colors up from there. I’ve attached some pictures below. It’s so much prettier in person!

Also, I ordered mine from Moissaniteco.com, and in the special instructions had to ask for the rose gold, OEC cut and the FB upgrade. The OEC cute for this size was an extra $225 and the FB upgrade was something like $310, but totally worth it in my mind!!!

I have a FB 6mm. I haven’t had mine for very long but so far it hasn’t shown any sign of ugly yellows/greens. Honestly, it is white almost all the time. If anything, I think it reflects a lot of greys and blues, but this may be because I live on the perma overcast coast.

I have noticed, however, that it sparkles rainbows WAY more than I would have thought under certain lighting, and because the cut is so chunky you can really notice it (which personally I lovvve and was very pleased to find out about).

As far as culets go, I requested a small one because I felt like my eyes would always be drawn to the “flesh hole” as I saw another bee refer to it. I think it really depends on what you want though. Sometimes I look at it and sort of wish I had asked for something more of a medium size because I feel like I can lose the center of the stone in all the sparkles without. (I always end up not caring every time the thought crosses me though because I really do love my stone and can’t stop my praises of Beth for picking it for me).  Just take a look at photos/videos to see what size you think you might like. It all depends on you! :3

I just looked at getting a moissy a couple weeks ago. I looked at the antique cushion forever brilliant and unenhanced and I honestly like the Unenhanced moissy better. It has so much fire I can’t wait until my ring is set we dropped it off at the jeweler today!!!!

My BF and I have been talking engagement a lot lately – to the point of going to a local jeweler to try on rings and get a ‘wish list’ for him to pick from.  I’ve specifically told him I do NOT want a diamond and would rather have moissy.  We’re going with one from betterthandiamond.com but it’s RB not an OEC.  I have read in their forums that OECs do show a little more color.

MissSweetiepie:  OECs do kind of act like mirrors in that they reflect back the colors of their environment. Here’s some pics of mine, 1ct FB enhanced (2nd gen). The setting has J colored diamonds.

First pic shows the crazy amount of pastel colors OECs give off

I guess you could say it looks green in this picture, but that’s because I’m wearing a neon green shirt. It’s reflecting that along with the blue sky and my fuschia cell phone case.

This is the most yellow I have ever seen it look – an overcast day in the car with grey interior

But at times it can look crazy white like this

They definitely are little chameleons, but that is what I love about them and find it to be part of the charm.
