She might have to purchase online, which would be fine if everyone knows what type of dress they look best in. My bridesmaids ranged in size from 8-24 and originally I planned on getting the dresses from www.ariadress.com but when they tried them on, the size 24 BM's couldn't quite make it work because they ran about a size or two too small. But their dresses are beautiful. Also try www.shopnordstrom.com. I don't really know where you can go for off the rack dresses in plus sizes besides David's and Alfred Angelo. Sorry!
www.lanebryant.com has its own section devoted to black dresses. There are a few cute ones, but none of them full length. If you get too simple of a dress and full length on a plus size woman, it'll just look like a black sack. Does it have to be full length?
Also www.sydneysclosest.com carries plus size bridesmaids gowns. Even if she needs to take it to be altered a bit, a local steamstress should be able to do it in no time. Good Luck!
I second Nordstrom.com. My main criteria was a navy full length dress in a range of sizes (I have bridesmaids size 0 to 18) that was inexpensive ($98). I found a dress online that is simple, classic and strapless navy in sizes 2-18. Best thing ever: the Nordstrom by my house does free alterations! This varies from store to store, but I found their online customer servie to be fantastic.

You might also check macys.com. They carry Maggy London and Evan Picone that range to 16. Also, a plus of the department stores is the loose return policies. They can buy them now and still have 3 months to change their mind (or see if they go on sale).

My MOH is in her sister's wedding in October. Things are kind of disorganized and the hunt is on for full length, simple black dresses that can be purchased off the rack in a wide range of sizes, including plus sizes beyond the typical size 0 - 16 range. Her sister is not typically the type to love things overly fashion forward or trendy, so the emphasis is on modest and simple. I am hunting all of the usual suspects and not having much luck because of either availability of sizes or styles. Any suggestions? Thanks!
