Hi everyone! Do you all have any suggestions for bridal salons that have a nice selection of wedding dresses I could buy off-the-rack in the Maryland/DC/VA area? I only have a week to find a dress before I fly abroad for my wedding (we are rushing due to my grandmother’s failing health). I’m a size 16 in bridal and looking for an elegant dress under $2000. Would really appreciate some help!
Thanks so much!

Davids would have a large selection ready to leave the store with you. You should also try Curvaceoue Couture in Columbia, MD. They exclusively carry sizes 14+ and have a lot of sample dresses in 16, with a good size sample sale selection at any point in time. I bought my sample there for more than 50% off, bringing my $3200 Ian Stuart gown down to a much more reasonable price ($1350). Also, check out Church Street Bridal (in VA) on Facebook to see if they have any dresses you like in your size. They get samples from a wide variety of bridal shops that they sell at rock bottom prices. All dresses are available to go home with you immediately.

I would suggest heading to a department store like Macy’s/Nordstrom/Penney’s and looking at some white prom/formal gowns. They’ll have a lot of sizes and probably cheapers than actual wedding gowns.
David’s is a good bet and many boutiques have samples, however, samples are usually a 8/10 so I don’t know if they’d have your size. David’s would though! Good luck!

I’m not sure how many sizes they carry in-store, but BHLDN (Anthropologie’s wedding brand) recently opened a store in Georgetown: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-wedding-dresses/. Many of their gowns are under $2,000 (and check out their reception dresses too–many of them could work for a ceremony if you like shorter lengths).
As others have said, David’s might have a good selection. There’s one in Rockville and another (I think larger) store in Baltimore. Maybe you could look online to find some styles you like, and contact the two stores to see what they have in stock?
Then I would also try the Nordstroms in McLean–I believe they have a bridal salon. I think there is also one in Pentagon City.
I haven’t been to Cherry Blossom Bridal–I found them looking on Yelp–but they seem to have great reviews and specialize in plus-sizes: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cherry-blossom-bridal-washington
