OK....first of all I want to let those reading that this is NOT a motivational post, this is a post to show my disgust over what I have been doing with my LIFE!

So 8 weeks ago, my office (which consists of only 5 people) decided to do a weight loss competition cause we all started to pack on some pounds because we all ate out at lunch, would bring donuts into the office at least 2 times a weeks kind of thing.

So enitially I was not going to go into the competition (I am the type of person who can put on weight fast but drop it just as easy) so my co-workers decided I would be the dark horse in the competition and win (winning was the joy of loosing all the weight as well as a nice $250 bucks!) but in the end I decided I wanted to anyways - I look back on it now and dont know why I did because at this point I am humiliated!!!!!!!!

Today was our weight in. I was last to go and I have known for weeks that I have put weight on. 6 pounds to be exact from when I last weighed in. I am the ONLY one who put on weight! only ONE other person failed with me - but he stayed the same weight NOT GAIN 6 POUNDS LIKE ME!

But to add insult to all of this a couple weeks ago I got a horrible flu and dropped 7 pounds and since then gained those 7 pounds back plus more so in the end I have gained a total of 13 pounds in the course of this 8 week process. I am digusted. utterly disgusted.

OH and did I mention the most humiliating and digusting part of all of this? the people who didnt loose any weight, or gained weight have to eat a dozen donuts!!!!!

A DOZEN DONUTS! so I am sitting here with the donuts on my desk - holding back the tears because of how upset I am with myself and how humiliating and upsetting this is!

I wrote a post a while ago about how much in a rut I was, and this just shows I am still not doing anything about it. I just feel like I cant!

    UGGH!!!

I dont even have the words... :(

    *Hugs* Its okay.

We do the same thing at work. The weight loss comp. Only four of us are doing it. Me, and 3 women (who are in their mid-$40) None of us are doing good. We're finding it hard to loose weight.

I'm finding it hard, and it should be "easy for me" because I'm younger. (I'm 22) I don't. I did the same as you and got sick, and lost so much. Then I stepped on the scale and gained it all back. That was two Fridays ago. I managed to lose 3.2lbs of it by last Friday (that's our weigh in day) but I know I've gained it back over the weekend. It's REALLY hard to lose weight...when you work at a grocery store, and the owner lets you eat whatever you want.

My biggest fault. I love colas, chips, and chocolate. I love to snack. I can't break myself. And yah, it does suck horribly when you eat just as much as another co-worker, yet they loose weight while you gain or stay the same. *shoots co-worker with rubber band* Last year, I lost 15lbs. I have gained 13lbs back since last fall! Talk about upsetting.

It really helps though to have someone kinda be supportive about it. My FI is supportive about it. He's trying to loose weight too. BUT he's a guy and they can loose 30lbs in a month & a half! *shoots FI with rubber band*

Chin up! I have faith in you. *hugs* This reply probably didn't make a bit of sense, or help any. But I tried. :) *hugs again*

wow, it seems like you an I have the same mentality when it comes to this whole 'weight loss' situation.
I too am a  huge snacker - and so is the FI. we really are each others downfalls when it comes to loosing weight. we are very supportive of one another but not when both of us are craving a bag of chips - we dont stop one another.
thanks though, it is nice to know there are others out there (of course) who are going through the same things as you

    rediculous, yes!

However I guess I didn't mention the alternitive to eating the donuts was paying $50 to the winner  - as well as the $50 entry fee to the winner for a total of $100 for gaining 13 pounds! makes things so much better!

I gave up after my 4th donut and am now paying the extra $50 - sigh.

Oh, I'm so sorry.  I find that the best competition is self- motivation (for me).  Don't beat yourself up about it, move on, and start looking for some new strategies for looking and feeling your best!

Hang in there and we're here for ya!

Now we don't make the "loser" eat food. That's not right.

How we do it is we have a envelope that we put money in. If we gain (no matter how much) we have to put in $2. If we loose weight, we put in $1. Right now, I think the "jackpot" is up to $140.

And my FI and I are the same way. One of us holds the bag of chips, and the other hold the dip! LOL! Gotta love him

You shouldn't be hard on yourself because you gained back weight that you lost when you were sick. That is just natural. You probably lost  a lot of necessary fluids  while you were sick and then your body played catch up once you were well again.

I have been struggling with my weight loss as well and I know it can become depressing but you are not alone and we are all here to support you. So don't give up. You will get there!

12 Donuts is crazy! i would have gone the $50 route as well.

12 donuts would have made me sick. Literally. At approximately 300 calories apiece (more if they're Krispy Kreme honey buns which i recently learned) that's actually a whole pound of fat. Not exactly helpful! You'd have to jog 60 hours to burn it all off

You can lose the 13 pounds in a few weeks...you just have to be REALLY good and get movin'. No worries! Sometimes you have to hit "The bottom" in order to climb back up. I don't freak out about my weight until i realize i've gained about 10 pounds. THen i go "oh CRAP" and clean everything out....then go food shopping and only buy the good stuff.

I'm a MONSTROUS snacker, too....so I can't let myself buy chips and stuff. It's really hard Office weight loss competition : wedding Icon Sad

OMG -- that was awful that they made you eat all those doughnuts!  What an unhealthy way to motivate you!  BOO on them for sure.

You should think about starting a food journal and having an accountability friend so that you're not doing this alone.  Don't beat up on yourself.  Stay positive and it will help you feel good about making good choices for your health :)

    We're here for you!

I think I did really hit rock bottom with that one. It definetly made me realize I am on a path of self-distruction - especially coming from a family that is all quite large and LOOVE to eat, I just knew I had to get out of my rut.....soo...

    I joined a fitness bootcamp!

After some hard searching on the internet (because I wanted something close, affordable, and that would do the job) and found one that is a 6 week program, 3 times a week - so mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for an hour and one a week they take you to this huuuge hill (I am talking huge) where you do hardcore cardio training on the staircases they have going up the hill!! UGGGH!!! I dont really know what I am getting myself into yet - as I haven't really been phyisically 'active' or done much exersise since I was in middle school (when I was about 15) so think my body is going to be in a real big shocker!

It starts June 8th - wish me luck! maybe then if we do another office weight loss cometition I can stabatoge all of them and make THEM eat 12 donuts! Mwwaahahaha!

I would suggest making the penalty slightly less artery clogging?  Maybe 1/2 dozen donuts?

Don't worry, it happens to all of us.  I've gained a couple of pounds after losing 5...and now I'm only 5 weeks away from the wedding. It's been hard to build habits with the busyness of getting ready for a wedding, new job, house, and moving across the country.

It's a busy time...but maybe this is just the kick in the pants you need to get back on the horse and keep at it!

haha you're going to get your butt whooped in that class! It'll be good, though, and it'll make you realize how *out* of shape you are. Sometimes I thnk i'm doing great, then I take an upper level gym class and realize that the 50 year old trophy wifes beat me...and I used to be an athlete! Shame on me.

Just don't undo all your hard work with what you eat. Nothing like burning off 800 calories, then eating 800, and realizing you went nowhere!

At least all this was a good motivator for you =] Swimsuit season's here, too!

I agree, the donuts thing seems a bit ridiculous! Doesn't seem very supportive to me :/

I'm with the others who have talked about self-motivation. I'm a creature of habit...so I'll either habitually sit on my butt all day or habitually work out every day!

If this stirred you to take real action, then maybe it was a blessing in disguise! Good luck!!

@ejy4y8 - ha ha ha I KNOW how out of shape I am it's rediculous! in my house we have soo many stairs its unheard of ha ha our kitchen is on the top floor and we usually always hang out in the basement so I have to walk up 3 flights of stairs just to get myself a snack ha ha I am huffing and puffing by the top and usually am too tired to eat! ha ha
I will definetly try and eat healthier, get on the right path - the FI is super supportive, and I should be of him as well because he is at the heaviest he has ever been. It will take some motivation, but we can do it!
side note, what are you at now? 5 weeks and counting? PM me wedding details! ha ha you're almost to the alter!
