Hi Bees! I need your help! Our wedding is quickly approching, and we still don’t have an officiant (among other things). We don’t go to church, so it’s been tough. I had really wanted a friend to officate and marry us, but my FI didn’t like that idea. He would also prefer a man (why, I have no idea–I guess he has this image of a man with a “presence” and strong voice marrying us; I was upset at first, but I’ve learned to pick my battles, and this isn’t one of them).
I’ve been searching the web and have emailed a couple of folks, but I’ve been striking out. Do you have any recommendations??? Anyone you’ve really liked?

We love love love our officiant – Reverand Deanna Lancaster. I know your fi prefers a man but she really is fantastic and I highly recommend her. She did a great job with our ceremony!

If I was still living in the Atlanta area, where all my family is, I would be having my Uncle perform the ceremony.
My cousin was just married down there and I’ll find out who his was.

Try calling the courthouse in your county and ask if any of the judges perform ceremonies off site. I read somewhere recently that some judges do it for about $200, but I can’t remember where I read about a judge in Atlanta. We’re having a judge do ours, but he’s my fiance’s boss, so we have a connection. He doesn’t normally do them outside of the courtroom.
It’s too bad your finance doesn’t want the friend to do it – having someone who knows the couple can be a really sweet touch to the ceremony. And anyone can become ordained online in about 5 minutes – I’ve even done it!

We are using Rev Sam Mixon- he is awesome. We don’t go to church either, and he gave us TONS of options and advice on how to make our ceremony the right mix of traditional and civil. He is open to making it just what you want. I would highly recommend him.
