@ticatica:  If Officiant can’t say your name right, officiant isn’t hired.

If it makes you feel any better I have a super easy name…and our officiant/priest still got my name wrong during our ceremony…twice! Lol!

How soon is your wedding?  Can you find someone new?  I don’t understand how you can’t repeat something you hear!!

Umm I’d be SO offended. DH’s last name is weird (but not too weird) and the officiant went over it several times to make sure he could say it, even right before the ceremony.

I’d talk to the officiant and not the woman on the phone.

I had all of the bridal party’s names written out phonetically for the DJ to say. One of the groomsman’s name is Jean (French), so I just wrote “John” instead so he’d say it right.

Yeah…I second PP.

I thought our Pastor could pronounce my DH’s last name. Then the day of the wedding she dropped the ball. It was suppose to have a long “o” and she made it sound like the “o” in volleyball.

I was a little embarrassed, but no one said anything and no one cared. I forgot about it until now, so it mustn’t have bothered me too much.

BUT knowning what I know now, ya. Make sure he/she can pronounce it. There is no excuse for getting it wrong, especially when you write out the pronunciation next to it.

Give her a notecard with your name spelled phonetically.

@ticatica:  @MrsJoyful80:  I have no advice, but I have a kinda funny story? My mom has 2 sisters, and the pastor who did my parent’s wedding had known their family forever. At my parent’s wedding, the pastor ended up accidentally asking if my dad wanted to marry my mom’s sister! My mom made him say her name correctly during the middle of their ceremony 🙂

Good luck!

@ticatica:  We used abbreviated names during the ceremony. It’s what people know us by. Our whole wedding was only 12 people big though so it was pretty casual!

Went through this myself, and my name is Kristen.  Not hard.  Dude kept calling me Christine, which is close… but definitely no cigar.  FI at the time kept trying to correct him but he couldn’t get it.  We went with someone else.  Good luck!
