Our close friend is officiating for us (for free) and I am trying to figure out what to get him as a gift. He likes cycling, and I was thinking of getting him bicycle cufflinks and tie, a maybe a subscription to a bike magazine for a year. Do you think those together would make a good gift?
What sorts of gifts have you Bee’s given to your officiant?

I like the cufflink idea (assuming he uses them). I’m sure etsy has some very cool bike related cufflinks. Our (female) priest officiated, so I made her a Pandora-style bracelet (charms from Etsy) with a letter listing the significance of each charm. She really liked it 🙂

@iloverocks: our friend officiated, and we gave him a cool trout-themed flask (he loves to fish) and a nice bottle of his favorite whiskey.
Your ideas sound good, as long as you think he’d actually use the tie & cufflinks. If not, there are a ton of cool bicycle-themed home decor, clothes, tools, etc etc on Etsy…

I gifted our officiant a $250 Amex giftcard. Not much help – sorry. 🙂
He had never mentioned a “price” but I didn’t feel right not giving him anything so I asked around and that seemed like a good amount.

You could give him a gift card to an online bike shop like PerformanceBike.com or support local and pick a local bike shop for a GC (maybe ask him where is his favorite). I would not do cufflinks or a tie unless he needs to dress in a suit for work daily. Then throw in a flask or a glass with a bike on it!

I see what you Bee’s are saying and agree. He does seem to go to weddings a lot, but maybe they aren’t the most practical gift. A tie he might sometimes wear to work though.
Sigh, back to the drawing board I guess!
Maybe a year subscription to a bike magazine and something else. I’d get him alcohol but he doesn’t drink much. Any other ideas?
