What does your officiant recommend to do?  It depends on how they work.  Some prefer to meet farther in advance, and some don’t even meet you before the wedding.  Personally, I’d want to get the planning done as soon as possible, to not let the ceremony, which is such an important part of the wedding, get bogged down in details closer to the day.

I started talking to my pastor about the ceremony about a month ago, and my wedding is in a month.

We are getting married in about 3 months and we had our first ‘short’ meeting with our pastor a little more than 2 months ago. We will probably have our next meeting sometime around Christmas?

i would ask them and see what they prefer. our rabbi was very relaxed and said we could wait, but i like to do things early so i made sure we did it all right away. especially because with rabbi’s they like to talk about your relationship, and if that talk didn’t go well who knows what would happen, he said he had sent some couples to therapy. luckily that didn’t happen for us. also, if you never met the person you want to make sure that you like him and that things are going to go right for you, if for some reason you end up hating him you might have to find a plan b.
