Mr. 99 has been a pill all week, he’s been snarky, moody, grumpy and tired…complainey and whiney….I just kept my head low and stayed out of his way….but this morning, he’s finally come down with a head cold, a raging fever and a hacking cough….
At 10: 34 this mornng, he called to see if I would bring him home some jelly beans…but not the starburst jelly beans….they have to be the original ones…that look like melted crayons….I said yes.
When I arrived home with the requested jelly beans, I found that Mr. 99 was camped out in bed with our three dogs and a new flat screen television on the dresser because he couldn’t get comfy enough on the couch…but still wanted to watch TV….fine.
He calls at 1:30 to tell me that he’s so tired but he can’t sleep because his eyes hurt….I tell him to turn of the tv and shut up.
He calls again at 2:15 to tell me he needs more jellybeans…I tell him eating any more is probably going to give him rainbow diarrhea.
One more phone call at 3:30….he asks, what are we having for dinner, he thawed chicken. I tell him I’d be more than happy to make my Life Saving Chicken Soup for him, after all, we’re married….but he’s not sure he wants soup…..so then we play this stupid game of, well….what do you want to eat? I dunno…what do you feel like eating….weeeellllll….I don’t know, but you’re the sick one…I know, I know, but you shouldn’t have to go out of your way for me…….WHAT THE HELL???? Out of the way? OUT OF THE WAY???? I just made a jelly bean run for a grown man and ate lunch in my bed with him and our three dogs because he was lonely and suddenly we’re worried about me being put out?
I’m going to run through the store…again, get the stuff for the soup, put it on, work on my teasers while it simmers, throw that soup down his neck and loose myself in Skyrim for the night reminding myself that tomorrow is Friday…the whole time!
I’ve got a jewerly extravaganza to look forward to on Saturday after Pilates and a fun brunch with a friend I haven’t seen since Christmas on Sunday…but I’ll probably end up bringing jelly beans back to the house every time…oh well, poor fella, being sick is no fun!
