Hi busy bees... I have a story for you (but, I'll keep it as short as I can!

In October, I purchased Allure 8634 (see below). It made me cry, I love the back of the dress, and it fit me perfectly (except for the shoulder straps being too long).

Oh Dear, Severe Dress Confusion!!! : wedding allure 8634 allure 8751 allure 8634 1 8751 1 lace a line 1 fit and flare 8634 Front

In December, I found out I was pregnant!!! I was to deliver on Aug 5th - 1 1/2 months before the big day. I was bummed that I wouldn't fit into the dress, but since I already purchased it, I figured I could whip back into shape before the big day and pay for some awesome Spanks!

Just a litle more than a week ago, we found out the baby had no heartbeat. I lost the baby on Monday, February 6th. I am quite devastated, and to help ease the pain, I decided some bridal retail therapy would do me some good.

I went to the nearest bridal salon and tried on several Allure gowns that were similar to the one I have (my dress is currently at my parent's home in KY). BIG MISTAKE?!? I found a dress that I simply fell in love with - Allure 8751 (below)

Oh Dear, Severe Dress Confusion!!! : wedding allure 8634 allure 8751 allure 8634 1 8751 1 lace a line 1 fit and flare 8751 Back Allure

Oh Dear, Severe Dress Confusion!!! : wedding allure 8634 allure 8751 allure 8634 1 8751 1 lace a line 1 fit and flare 8751 Front Allure

The dresses are similar, but SO different. I LOVE the wider waistband and the floral lace (with some 3D flowers, too) on the new one - it ties in PERFECTLY with our garden outdoor ceremony and reception. It is available in Ivory like my other gown.  I LOVE the crystals in the waistband on my dress, it has a chapel train, and the straps on my dress are cut a little wider than the one I fell in love with today.

The other dress... It is 200.00 cheaper than the one I have. So now, I am thinking about listing my dress on here, recyclebride, oncewed, etc to sell it. I am rather conflicted right now and am worried that the only reason I love this new dress is because of my recent loss AND/OR for whatever other reasons that I cannot explain.

Please help my worried mind and give me some advise, PLEASE?!? What do you think of the new dress? Better? Worse? Any and ALL opinions are welcome.

    Thank you wonderful bees!!!

Are the sashes removable? Because if so, I think the sash on the second could be a lot of what you like. It's gorgeous. If you could have that sash on your current dress...would that change your mind?

They are both beautiful dresses. Purely objectively, I do like the second one a tad better. But I think it's the sash.

So sorry to hear about your loss.  I think both of the dresses are beautiful and you should just go with your instincts.  If you have negative feelings tied to the original dress, then go with the second dress.  (I do like the fit and flare shape of the second dress a little better.)

These kinds of situations are complicated and I think the best option is to go with whichever dress makes you the happiest.

So sorry to hear about your loss. On the plus side, you are marrying your partner and have a lot to look forward to! I think your attempt to rush back into wedding planning is probably a need to move on. However, I see very little difference between the two dresses so I think you should stick with the one you bought! I can understand the need to want to change something, when everything else feels out of your control. But it would just be more time and hassel than anything else. Rest easy.

so sorry for your loss... :(

if i had to pick, i'd definitely stay with the one you already bought! i love the skirt better--it's flowy and romantic! the other one seems to scoop under the model's butt, and i think the one you have just accentuates the right places of the body better....

the sash on the first dress might be just tacked on there with a few stitches (mine was on my dress, though it wasn't this dress).... if so, it'd be easy to remove it and go for a wider one that sits more along the natural waist! :)

no matter what, they are both gorgeous dresses! you'll look awesome in either! :) keep us posted about which one you ultimately choose!

I'm so sorry about your loss.

Both are beautiful, and I think you have to go with your gut.  If you want the second dress, I say go for it and list the first dress for sale.  Lots of people have success with that (I did!).  Good luck!

@Amberrw:  I do love teh detailing at the bottom of my dress... The other one is cut straight across and rather flat. Plus, it doesn't help that there is hardly any train either.

@AmeliaBedelia: @anotheroneofmany: The sashes are removable. I saw a pic of a past bride who had her sash completely removed. I didn't like that look because you could see the seam on her dress (and I thought it was not a pretty, but I digress). I suppose at alterations I could ask the seamstress to match up the sash from 8751 or something like it (to reuse my crystals) for my dress... I am mostly hung up on the LACE!  The lace on 8751 is far more "me" than the traditional lace on my 8634 dress... Hmmmmmm.

ALL: Thank you for your kind words. It has been so incredibly hard coping with the loss... But, I did smile today (well, more of a smirk) and hopefully I will begin to smile and laugh more with each passing day.

@angarrett81:  I did go ahead a jump on a few websites to list my dress... I figured it couldn't hurt to see if I could sell it for what I need/want.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my dress... I wish I could combine the lace on #2, train on #1, bottom edge of #1, crystals on #1, sash on #2, neckline on #2, frontal view of straps on #2, back view of straps on #1, and fit on #1 all together - THAT would be the perfect dress for me.

@cldaughe:  I am sorry for your loss.  I think you look great in the original dress, and just my humble opinion,  I think the dresses with the 3D flowers are going to look dated in the future, and I really, really like the bottom lace of the first dress.

First off, I am very sorry about what happened.

As for the dress, I like your first one more, and I think they're similar enough that it's not worth changing. If you sell your dress it will almost definately be at a loss of more than $200. I think lace is great for a garden wedding, and that heavily textured gowns like the new one are more of a passing trend, if that's something that matters to you, and a lot of times seem to "wear you" instead of you wearing it. Maybe you could try on your dress with a wide belt to make it more similar?

Wow... A resounding vote for #1 seems to be present here!

I agree that the lace at the bottom of the dress really just pulls it all together... But my reservations are things that I am not sure I can alter.

I really wish my dress was here with me in St. Louis so I could take it somewhere to have an alterations expert help me see if I can convert certain features of #1. But then, I'd run the risk of FI seeing it (as we live together).

Oh decisions, decisions... As of right now, I figured I could at least list it to see what kind of interest I can drum up. We'll just have to wait and see if #2 is meant to be.

So sorry for your loss dear ! Sending hugs and prayers your way !

I personnally like number one better. I really like the idea of a wider sash, like PPs have suggested :) As for dress #2, tho I do think it is pretty, I am not really a fan of the bottom.. it just doesnt flow I think. There is a seem there that I dont really like :P

That being said, I feel like you really like #2 better, so I say go for it if you can ! It is a beautiful dress !

What I think I may do is take the dress in for a consultation with my alterations guru. She will know if I can add a wider sash (with some bling OR pull the bling off my current sash) AND make sure it looks ok, plus I'd like to see if I can take it in a bit around the tooshie area so it is more of a fit 'n flare instead of an (IMO) awkward aline.
