So I was talking with Future Mother-In-Law and Future Sister-In-Law (who is also a BM) about dresses for them for the wedding and we decided we’d all go shopping together to try and find something. So I took a day off work next week that corresponds with her day off so we could spend the whole day together shopping. Well something triggered in her head that she needed to start shopping NOW, so she’s been out shopping like 3 times looking at things and trying them on to get some ideas.
Fast forward to today, she is out visiting with Future Sister-In-Law and FGrandMIL (FI’s grandma) and they go out shopping and she bought a dress. The whole time Future Sister-In-Law is saying to her “Well I like it, but you should check with Prettylizy before you buy it”. Nope. She bought a dress today. She called me at work to tell me and ask me if I liked it? (Over the phone? I can’t see it, how can I weigh in on it?) She wanted to know if it would clash against what my mom was wearing and if it was the right formality level. I told her I’m sure it’s fine, as long as she’s happy with it.
I guess I’m just a little bummed that she didn’t include me in the shopping trip. I’m glad she found something, but I was looking forward to being able to see her try the dresses on and be a part of the fun girly shopping trip. Not to mention the wasted day off work for the “non-shopping” day next week.

I’m sure you have plenty of wedding errands left that she would love to help with. She probably got too excited and couldn’t wait to buy it. You could also just meet up and have a nice lunch.

She was probably excited but that’s annoying that you took a day off for this and now…

Yeah, I’m sure you guys are right, she was probably excited. I just have to keep reminding myself that it doesn’t matter that much, and as long as she’s happy, I’m happy.

You have my dream Future Mother-In-Law – well, I’m actually wishing my mom had more initiative to find a dress. She wants me to go shopping WITH her every time… and I want her to just go and find one on her own!!!

My Mother-In-Law bought NINE dresses for the wedding. Yes, you read right… nine! She kept asking me what I thought of them (they were fine, but not like my opinion was really necessary because she was going nuts about these dresses). She still couldn’t decide, so she got four of them hemmed the week of the wedding so that she would have at least four to choose from the morning of. So I didn’t really know what she was wearing until I saw her that day.

My Future Mother-In-Law asked me about colors multipule times and checked in with me while she was shopping so I gave her a list of colors and even sent pics of our flowers and whatnot so she could get the idea.
She ended up buying a dress that doesn’t match anything AT ALL. It’s green – my colors are pink and navy blue.
I don’t really care what she wears. The ONLY reason I even told her was because she kept asking about it and seemed really concerned about matching. Unfortunately I told my mom to dress my family accordingly and I know they’re sticking to it so my Future Mother-In-Law might stand out a bit.
