Very exciting!  My SO and I have been regularly discussing the details of our wedding since August, and he still hasn’t proposed (custom ring is coming, he just really wants to make it special… no matter how many times I say I would be happy with an at-home proposal).  We settled on a date and a venue late-August, and booked it early October just so we wouldn’t miss out!  It means you’re in good relationship with open communication, and don’t let anyone tell you any differently!

I’m also scottish and my family has a castle over there. I went when I was 8 and while it was gorgeous, I was so depressed because I missed my mom lol But I want to go back now that I’m older and can enjoy it. I can’t wait to see your pics! Hopefully you’ll get engaged in NY! So exciting!!

SharpBee:  Wooooot! SO exciting. I love that it’ll be in a super cool place too! I would much rather elope to somewhere in Europe over a beach somewhere (but I’ve seen some super nice beach weddings, just not my thing). A castle is right up my alley!

Good luck girl!!

That’s great everyone is on board. I was never into the idea either, I always imagined I’d have a big wedding. Unfortunately I’ve lost both of my parents and my grandfather (who was basically my dad) and he’s lost his mom and his grandfather who he was also super close to. I told him last year that we would have to plan our wedding around football season and he responded “we aren’t having a wedding”… took me by shock. But I quickly warmed up to the idea because planning our wedding would be sad when we realize who wasn’t there. So we decided to do a huge trip and are going to Bora Bora because that’s our dream. We are also very beachy, we got engaged in Hawaii and most of our vacations are centered around the beach lol And I’ve always wanted a beach wedding. We are also having a “reception” when we get back home and we are going to show our wedding video so our guest feel like they were there!

SharpBee:  Oh I can totally understand that. My FI is also shy, I’m not really but I think I’d freak at a wedding. Everyone has ridiculous family members it seems.

Yeah, I wouldn’t go somewhere I’ve been, especially if it feels like home. I’d want it to be a once in a lifetime location. People have suggested us going back to Hawaii, but we don’t really want to do that because we feel like we can go there whenever (we fly free). Not really the same with Bora Bora. You’ll have to wait awhile for the pics because we’re going Feb 2016!

That is so exciting! I hope he pops that question soon so it can be more official! My SO hasn’t quite popped the question yet, but he has ordered the setting and is waiting for it to come in. We are checking out some venues next weekend so it’s starting to become real. We are thinking next Fall so we need to get on it.

I hope you have a great time in New York, it’s a wonderful place to get engaged if it happens. Don’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t happen while you are there though.  It’s still a great place to visit and there is so much to do!
