LOL. She actually went through all of my towels (at H's place that I just merged into) and got rid of like 12 and replaced them ... now she just refolded all of the towels. =) LOL. This is funny.

I definitely don't have that gene - the organizing one.

Oh, don't be too hard on her! My Mom tells me that her In-Laws used to come stay with them for 3 months every winter. It was just expected. They didn't ask. Every winter, the first thing her MIL would do was to rearrange her entire kitchen. I would seriously go off if someone did that! My Grandma used to do all our ironing and she would iron my jeans. I had to get them wet and throw them in the dryer before i could wear them to school:-)

My mom is in town and did all our laundry and proceeded to make our married bed for us. She also shook a finger at me when I didn't get up from watching a lecture to plate DH some dinner (we ate earlier, then he got home around 7) and proceeded to make his plate for him, much against our protests. He's a big boy. If he wants food, he'll get it!

She keeps dropping hints like, 'if you let me have 2 days i'd make this place look so much nicer...why don't you let me organize everything?' and then pouting when I don't let her.

She organized my tupperware for me, though, haha.

She has the best of intentions, but no, you aren't the only one whose mother comes over and, well, mothers =]

That's funny. I'd let her. I wish my step-mom would come over and organize my closet! It's tiny. But, my dad did ask me the other day if I folder towels like my mom or my step-mom. Totally in thirds like my mom did. More compact that way.

I have the opposite problem - when my mtoher comes she makes all these little messes and then I spend my time cleaning up after her!  Between that and the CONSTANT complaining about my two cats (who are very clean thankyouverymuch vs. her FOUR muddy dogs) we now spend holidays sans family ;-)

can i borrow your mom for a week? Please?! :D my mom makes messes, she doesn't clean them. Once us kids reached the right size/age to do dishes and other housework, my mom was Done. I am sure she keeps her home clean now, but she is not and never will be a woman who will offer to help me clean and organize my home! And while my FMIL loves to offer help installing things like ceiling fixtures and wall shelves, she'll never be a woman who comes over and cleans and organizes for me either. *sigh* Its all up to me...which is why this place is a mess whenever finals roll around! :)

Hi. I actually told my mom we should have done before and after pictures so she can add them to a portfolio and start her own business. She's miss-organize Queen!

That's funny... my mom is the opposite! She has not patience for decorating or organizing. She likes to move often (houses, I mean!) and so I'm really determined to settle into a place once I move in. She came to visit R and my apartment this year and said, "oh it looks so nice! I wish my house could look like this!"

My mom suggested that she could come over after we got back from the honeymoon and help me set up the house. I shouted "boundaries!" and she got it and backed off... it was a few days before the wedding, and I was kind of on a short fuse, I feel a little bad about it now.

That is kind of cute and annoying at the same time. I think your mom may be a little OCD but so am I. That sounds like something I would do, GOD help me. LOL

I totally do things like this to my parents' house when I go home for vacations!  My mom is very good at keeping things clean but she definitely didn't get the decorating gene.  I try to update or reorganize a room everytime I go home!  It's bad but I don't think she minds.  At least that's what I tell myself!

LOL I'm like your mom at my parents house :) For Christmas last year I re-decorated one of my parents guest bedrooms & they loved it! My parents style is so dated, so it was fun to add a modern aspect to one of their rooms.

LOL... my mom doesnt visit much but on the other hand my my grandmother, is fabulous, she and my grandfather drive about 3 1/2 hours to where FH and i live, grandfather works outside in our garage and organizes and helps FH with our business. My grandmother cleans the house..i mean scrubs the house baseboards sinks etc. does all of the laundry, organizes paper work, then she will cook about 6 to 8 tupperware dishes and freezes chicken and rice, pasta etc and we are doing well for dinner like 2 or 3 weeks! She is like a whirlwind ! We love to see them!
