Hi Bees!
I haven't posted much on Wedding Bee because I haven't wanted to jump the gun TOO much (sure, he already kind of asked me in January, and sure, we went shopping for the ring together where my brother works at a diamond wholesaler, but nothing's set in stone until it is, right? ;)).
After waiting 6 months since that serious January discussion, my SO proposed last Saturday on stage at a car show (!!). Now, car shows are more him than me, but I'm thrilled that he put so much effort into it (even though I turned bright red with all that attention on me). It was sweet and amazing and I'm so excited to be able to tell everyone!
Congratulations!!! Thats so sweet of him to propose the way he did:)
STUNNING ring! And congratulations! (I totally did the same, even secretly bought a wedding mag when I knew the proposal was coming, my friends thought I was nuts)
Welcome!
Thanks so much, everyone! I actually picked the ring out with him at the beginning of May. I was nervous picking it out as I didn't want to overstep any boundaries, but he wanted to make sure that I had something I liked. Sigh, eye roll! I would have liked anything he picked out!
I asked him how long he'd had it in his possession and he said he picked it up two weeks after we visited, so he's technically had it on him a month and a half. He has two children from a prior marriage (this is my first and only :)) and his ex was getting engaged and married at right around the same time, so we didn't want to make things too crazy for the kids by putting any more on them than they were already dealing with. Though they're excited for us :). We told them last night, and his daughter screamed "Yay!" and jumped up and down while hugging me, while his son acted in typical 8 year old boy fashion, shrugged, and asked his dad if everyone has a bump on the roof of their mouths. lol!
@StrawberryBee - I just laughed out loud at his son's reaction - TOO funny!!
Congrats!
Congrats!! NOw let the wedding planning really begin!
congratulations! have fun with the planning! and lol @ his son's reaction XD
Congratulations! What a sweet proposal too! The 8-year-olds response is hilarious and so off-topic typical! Best wishes to you all!
Thanks!! I've been trying not to plan for six months now, so it'll be weird to actually get started *lol*.
Oh, and even better reaction: Fiance started out the conversation with the kids by saying that we had some news to share with them. His daughter immediately pipes up (guessing): "We're going to Disney World?!!"
Ah...no.
Son: awwwwwww!
I love these kids :).
Tessemasgirl: Hee, actually that date was just something I randomly picked. My sister's out of the country until the end of May next year, so it'll probably be June or July 2011 (we're pretty flexible). I'm trying to do this as affordable as possible, so it may end up a Sunday morning with a brunch reception, or midday or cake and punch.
The kids requested a day that gets them out of school ;).
