I purchased my first dress in January and am absolutely in love with it. However, there have been a series of problems with the bridal shop and my dress not even being in, I had to buy a second as a back up. (I won’t trash the bridal shop here, I have heard of that coming back to haunt other bees, but I’ll say at this point, my biggest concern is just having something to wear at my wedding!).
My first gown was the Wtoo Carmen. She was exactly the opposite of what I had in mind, and I adore her. This dress is very light and easy to move around in. It also makes my small frame look curvy in the hips. http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/15192/#
My new dress is much closer to the idea I had when I first went dress shopping. This was the kind of dress I was looking for. This one I ordered from David’s Bridal website, (the other dress came from a private shop). Considering I didn’t have the luxury of time to look and shop around for this as much as I did with the first, I am pretty happy with it. Let’s hope I still like her, when she gets to my house! http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Petite-Cap-sleeve-Trumpet-with-Keyhole-Back-7VW9768
Even though i got the DB dress as a standby, I almost feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Not just because I know i’ll have SOMETHING to wear, but because I think I should have gone with a dress like this to start. As much as I love my first gown, the DB gown is the one that gives me “that” feeling, and I haven’t even put it on yet! i just KNOW. If the Carmen ever does show up, I’ll still see which of the two look better and give her a chance, but i am pretty sure the DB is MY gown and i will likely sell/donate the Carmen to another bride.
Any other bees have a similar experience? Did an accidental second dress take you by suprise?

I didn’t, but I wanted to tell you that your second dress is SO pretty! I love it!

In my personal opinion, I like the DB dress much better…the first one looks odd because of the way the fabric lays…plus, from the way you’re talking about the 2nd one…you love it!!

I, too, love the second dress! I can’t wait to see pics 🙂

@pengoala: Thank you so much!! I cannot wait for it to arrive!

Thanks, everyone!! I think what sold me on the first dress was that it is easy to move in. It is very light. Honestly, the more i think about it, I was never super attatched to the Carmen. I definitely didn’t feel this way. I think I can do more with the DB dress. With the Carmen, you needed certain shoes and jewelry to “go” with it, some things wouldn’t look right. With the DB i can wear my blue pumps and pearls, like i originally wanted!! And yes, pics will be up as soon as the dress arrives, for sure!!

I LOVE the second dress!
It happened to me too. I purchased a DB dress last August and then I came across AA Cinderella 205 on these boards and fell in love. I had to try it on, once I did I didn’t want to take it off. I was trembling, it’s the most perfect dress. So we’re selling the first one.

To be honest I like your second WAY better! Anyway, no biggie, it took me 3 tries before I found my right dress! 🙂

LOVE the 2nd dress.
I am also a 2 dress bride. We are eloping, so I ordered a knee-legnth dress with lace overlay and a bow and the waist -strapless. I LOVED it… still do. But, it kind of underwhelmed me. Even though I didn’t want anything fancy and we are eloping on the beach… so I could wear my bathing suit for that matter… but I don’t know… I still just really wanted something more, I guess. So, I found another dress. It’s flowy chiffon and has a train and a lace up back… definitely more of what I had in mind! I just hope it’s not too ‘over the top’ for a elopment! 🙂

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!!
Katelovescats, I’m sure it will be lovely! Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you can’t wear a beautiful dress!
Lyndzo Isn’t it amazing when you get that feeling?
Anyway, the second dress got here super early (yay!) She will need some alterations (I am not at all curvy, and while it “fits” you can see that it definitely just hangs on my body, as is. But a good seamstress can fix that, I am sure) and I am also getting a different sash to match my FI’s tie. But, here she is for now. (If/when my first dress ever shows up, I’ll post pics of that, too. I’d like to see them both on before I make my final decision. I am sure there is a reason I fell in love with the Carmen to begin with, so I don’t want to give up entirely, just yet)

Oh, and pardon the mess. This is my FI’s childhood bedroom at my Future In-Laws, so that stuff has just beent here for years…except my jeans that i excitedly ripped off to put on the dress lol.

My situation is SO similar to yours! I bought a dress last January (2011), put a down payment on it, and by February of 2012, it still wasn’t in, in spite of persistent phone calls and inquiries by my mom, me, and my cousin who is an attorney. In the meantime, I saw Lazaro’s sherbet dress and fell in love. It was more of what I was going for, and I went to try it on while my cousin tried to get some results from the first bridal shop. I ended up ordering it, and I’m so happy with it.
As someone who knows from experience…it’s such a stressful thing to go through!! I’m glad everything has worked out for you, though!!
