nawella:  I’m ok so long as (a) I’m with some people I know, and (b) the people I don’t know are close to me in age. You’ve got no choice but to split up the synagogue people – perhaps put some of the younger ones near some of your younger friends?

We went more by table than by area – i.e. we had tables of 10, and most people knew most other people at their table. In a few cases people didn’t know everyone at the table, but they knew some. (Except for one couple who knew no one else, but we sat them with people their age and they were fine).
