Hi.  I'm 39 years old so I feel like a crone with all of this stuff.  I was married once before but it was when I was 19 and it was only for a year.  My father was dying and I just rushed into marriage to make sure my father was there to see it.  He was a very nice man, my 1st husband but I just wasn't ready to be married yet- I wore my prom dress as my wedding dress and had no bridesmaids-- It was just a justice of the peace type of thing with a few close relatives, and of course, my father...He died 6 mths later and I realized I was gay... SO... I have finally met "the one" and want this wedding to be magical and all I could have ever dreamed...but I never really dreamed of wedding stuff before.  I never spents days ooogling wedding dresses or wondering what my color scheme would be.  My Fiance is so dapper.  She will be wearing a tux or 3 piece suit, as will some of the bridesmaids.

My mother has also passed so I really feel old and out of my element.  This time I even have bridesmaids!

Okay-- so that is probably way too much information right off the cuff.

I've got a little over a year to get all this figured out so... September 29, 2012... ready or not, I'll be a bride!

Welcome to the Bee!  I'm a 40 year old encore bride and it all felt very strange to me in the beginning too.  I originally wanted a small, intimate backyard wedding with close family and friends ... instead we're having a 200-guest wedding at a country club.  It's what my fiance wanted and it being his first (and only) time, I wanted to make him happy.  It didn't take long and I was excited to be planning everything, all the little details suddenly became very important.  Just make it your own - include the elements that are special and meaningful to you and you can't go wrong.

Welcome to the Hive!! Don't worry, it's all very stressful at first, but just keep in mind that as long as your officiant and you two show up, the rest is just frills! Nice to have, but frills :) I actually started a thread earlier today with advice from married bees about where we started planning, maybe it would help you!
