I just called FH dying laughing about this. One of the hostesses sent me a message earlier in the week saying a major media outlet had contacted them wanting input from posters and did I want to contribute, but FH was on a business trip and couldn't really speak to them during the day like they needed and they wanted to speak to both of us, so I had to decline. I guess had we been able to talk to them, they'd have used my actual name and not just my username.

I guess so... a hostess contacted me on Monday and said a media outlet had asked them if posters on that thread would like to contribute to an article, but they had to speak with both of us by phone on Tuesday and my FI was in conferences all day on an out of town trip, so I had to decline since it was unlikely they'd be able to reach him. But, maybe since I said I'd have done it otherwise they just took that as consent? That, or whatever we write on here belongs to Weddingbee after that and they can release it with THEIR consent if a news outlet asks permission to reprint. Not entirely sure!

I think they can use any non-identifying information they want to. Including what you write on here. Afterall, it is a public forum and they own it so... yeah. Watch what you say? Lol.
WB is publicly available. I see no legal reason why they wouldn't be able to quote us.
I got an A in media law :). Yes, they can use it because it's publicly available. It's like how they can take pictures of burning houses from the street because it's in public view, but they can't use a telephoto lens to creep on celebrities.
However, it's pretty sloppy journalism for the NY Times! No offense to our lovely bees, but generally it's good to actually have a name with your sources, lol.
