Cleveland area bride here :) You can check in the boards for the different main cities in Ohio as well (although it is a bit quiet there). We are still deciding on where to have our events, but are hoping to be able to have our wedding reception at a summer camp site (my partner volunteers there as a nurse a few weeks every summer and it's just beautiful). We will probably have the wedding ceremony at our house with just our closest friends and family. We really would like to have either a combined bach party or a rehearsal dinner at the Winking Lizard (not sure where you are at). The one in Lakewood has a bowling alley, as well as a stage - I've actually been to a wedding there!
Our reception was at the Park Inn (downtown), in their ballroom. Their staff was phenomenal to work with. Cannot say enough about how great they were!
I am south of you. Mercer County bride- there is no boards for us small town areas :)
I live in Florida, but I'm getting married in Toledo in September. The ceremony will be at Trinity Episcopal downtown (my uncle is a member) and our reception is going to be at St. Michael Center in Oregon. My grandfather works at the Stranahan and is involved in a lot of weddings there so he told me that Michael's is the best caterer so we just decided to have it at St. Michael Center where they have their main kitchen.
@redwingschika30: I believe that caterer was at a bridal show I went to. We sampled their food and it was delicious! They were really nice, too. We got married at the zoo though, and they cater their events so we didn't need a caterer. If we would've needed one though, i totally would've checked into Michael's!
Does anyone have suggestions for hair salons? I know of a few up there, but since I don't live in Toledo anymore I won't be able to visit and ask questions in person.
I have been to the Beauty Bar on Monroe St. for nails when I was in college and I read about the wedding day packages online and it sounds very nice. I have also been to Shamas in Perrysburg for massages and one hair cut.
I'm not sure if I trust my families judgement on who is going to be doing my hair and makeup and I was hoping to find some suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
@redwingschika30: My hairdresser did my wedding hair for free as a gift to me, but she doesn't usually do weddings/events. Sorry, not much help there! But I did have my hair done as a bridesmaid by a great stylist at Reve Spa and Salon. Check them out. They are very similar to Shamas as they are a "higher end" type salon in the Toledo area. She was really good. I believe her name is Allison. She was actually a cousin of the bride. I thought my hair looked really good. I can send you a pic of it, if you want.
@redwingschika30: I had my hair done by Christie at Dillard's Salon (in the Westfield mall). There were also other stylists who did my bridesmaid's and mom's hair. They were great.
