First of all, that dress is gorgeous!! From what you described, I think that dress would be perfect! It is flowy and seems light enough for a destination wedding, while being formal enough for the feel of the wedding. I think if you went too casual on your dress, it wouldn’t fit in with the formal attire of the rest of the guests. I say it’s the best of both worlds! And even if it wasn’t, it’s your day and your dress, do what makes you happy! :]

Gorgeous! I wore a lace mermaid gown to our elopement.! Just because its destination does not mean it has to be chiffon. I voted yes!

Did you get any pics of you in the dress?

i think it would be great.

i also think if you get it in the pink color, it would look awesome next to men wearing khaki pants.

The bride is supposed to stand out! That dress is absolutely gorgeous. I don’t think you’d look out of place at all. I say go for it!

@Diamond84:  I actually saw someone buy this on Say Yes to the Dress last weekend! It’s gorgeous and I think would fit in well with the setting you described. As an outdoor hot weather wedding bride (if you’re planning on doing anything outdoors), my only suggestion would be to keep in mind the weight of the dress and how you think you/it would hold up in potential heat… you can get pretty hot pretty fast out in the Caribbean sun!

Bravo on such a fabulous choice!!!

YES! It’s your wedding! Wear what ever the hell you want. It’s a stunning dress and it sounds like it would fit with what you want anyway =)

I think the dress is very pretty. Have you tried it on? The only concern I have with it is how much it will cost to transport a dress that full to your destination. If the cost doens’t matter, you love the dress, and it looks good on you, go for it.

When I bought my dress I thought we were going to have a big ball. I got a very expensive ornate gown for a really good price. The satin came from thailand and is hand rouched, the lace is hand made with about a billion svoraski crystals. Since then we’ve decided to get married at Disney. We are waiting on a quote from Disney and may do a 40-50 person wedding rather than a 20 person one and will decide this week. My fiance has decided either way he’s wearing a tux. Our wedding will be at a big gazebo on the water, the reception will either be a fancy dinner at a restaurant with fireworks party after, or a fancy dinner party with cake cutting at epcot on the water for the fireworks. Am I switching my dress? HELL NO! I love that dress and though our theme and location have changed its my day and this is my dress.

@mrsSonthebeach:  I’m carrying my dress on the plane. We’re going to have a friend of ours carry one of my grandfather’s violins on the plane for the violinist to play. We’re going to be carrying a lot of stuff onto the plane.

@dewingedpixie:  A dress that size might need its own seat. Have you talked to the airline about it? I can’t imagine that dress packing up small enough to fit in a traditional carry-on sized box or suitcase.
