Do you have a David’s Bridal store nearby? They have several cute short dresses online. Can you post a picture of one of the dresses that you liked?

Why do you have to wear a short one?

Do NOT use bestbridalprices.com. Their prices are tempting but I’ve foud a few reviews where the brides got really screwed over.

I’m not sure where you’re from or your budget but David’s Bridal has dresses $400 and under that are nice! They’ve been having lots of sales lately, but not sure if they are still on or not.

I hope everything comes together for you and your FI! Life sure does enjoy throwing those curveballs!!

seaofgrace:  There’s no reason you have to scrap your idea for a wedding gown, you might just have to improvise a bit.  Try resale sites and stores, go to DB and AA looking for off the rack ones, you can also look for the bridal houses in China, if you do those ask around to get one with a decent reputation, are you going to get amazing quality? no, could you end up with a pretty dress that will last through your wedding? yes.  If the biggest thing about your dream dress has been the length than make that the one thing that is a must have.

seaofgrace:  It might not hurt to stop in and try on the dress you liked. If you like it you could try looking for a used one online in your size, which would bring your cost down. If anything, you can narrow down the styles that you like.

modcloth.com has some cute short white/ivory dresses in plus sizes

this one looks cute

could maybe shorten the sleeves to the cap sleeve style like the first photo you posted, IDK how hard that would be with lace.

seaofgrace:  This is my dress: David’s Bridal WG 3438 http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Swiss-Dot-Tulle-Empire-Waist-Soft-Wedding-Gown-WG3438. The reason I picked it was because it was soooo much less heavy than every other dress I tried on. It’s comfortable and light even with a slip. You could probably shorten it, too. It’s usually on sale for $350. The reviews have pics of actual people in it.

Here are some other more short whtie dresses (kind of simple though): http://www.donna-morgan.com/bridal/little-white-dress/icat/littlewhitedresses
