I posted a while ago asking for ideas on what to name the kitten I’m planning on adopting:
I asked y’all, Reddit, friends, and family for ideas and we’ve narrowed down the list of awesome suggestions, but can’t decide on what we like more. She’s almost ready for adoption, so we need to find a name soon. Just a summary, she’s about 2 months old, a big snuggler and rather vocal (cute, high pitched meow). Like all cats, she’s sort of a goofball. One of her front arms was malformed at birth, so she scoots along on that elbow, but it doesn’t stop her from running and jumping everywhere. The names we’ve narrowed it down to are:
Moxie (noun: force of character, determination, or nerve.)
Fife (a flute/piccolo-esque instrument)
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface)
Pixel (I don’t know how to elaborate on this one)
Naboo (Planet from Star Wars)
Harriet Jones: Prime Minister (Awesome lady from Dr. Who)
Isley (of Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy from Batman)
Nemo (Fish with the funny fin)
Minna (means “strong warrior” in German)
If you have any other ideas, feel free to comment with them.

I could not pass up Harriet Jones. Also cats should always have more than one name in my book, something that can evolve with them as they grow and show more of their personality. She might end up being a Dirty Harry type, or a neatly demure Hariet, maybe she’ll be a bit supreme and you call her Prime but trust me when you’re mad at her – you’ll appreciate her having a longer name!

My first thought was Moxie!

I voted Nemo, just from the pic… then I read she scooted along on an elbow. Fish with the funny fin, how cool!
I have a kitty with one eye.
And as I type this he just curled up in my arm like a baby and started purring lol. He’s a big baby. He gets annoyed with Darling Husband cause he comes home from work all dirty and kitty wants attention but has to wait lol.
Kitties are great. Congrats on the new kitty!

Oh man, Moxie is cute but Harriet Jones is awesome.

Minna! With a physical deformity, maybe she’ll be inspired to live up to her name and not let it get in her way!! She’s so adorable. I wish I could reach through the screen and snuggle her! Instead I’ll go snuggle my own little furball. And pray I don’t get scratched.

@HonoraryNerd: I voted Moxie because not only is it cute but cats repond best to names that end in an ie/y/i/ey so I don’t agree with names that don’t.
I have two cats, Loki and Lizzie 🙂
What a beautiful cat btw

I’d keep her for a few days and try out different names. Usually you’ll have a strong gut reaction, and then you’ll know what to do. My kitty has the personality of Pippin (from LOTR) but we ended up naming him Frodo because it stuck in some inexplicable way. Now I can’t imagine him as anything else! (We had him for a good 2 weeks before we decided too).
Adorable kitten, by the way! Congratulations!

@HonoraryNerd: I can totally see myself getting in baby talk mode and cooing the name “Naboooooo” to her. Definitely go with that one! 🙂
Although Moxie is awfully cute.
What a dilemma to have! 🙂
