We moved into our house in August and we’ve been working on it nonstop.  We painted every room and took down hideous borders, wiped out the old landscaping, put up all new window treatments, bought furniture and area rugs.  It feels like a home now but there is still a lot that I want to do once spring arrives–new mailbox, outdoor cooking area/patio, etc!

Congrats on your new home and enjoy!

@jb20:  We moved in our house 2 months ago. We painted the entire basement, cleaned everything, ripped out some ugly plants, and put insulation in the attic. We did all this before we even officially moved in. We did a few other some things. It only took us a couple weeks to do the above, move everything in, and put everything away and in it’s spot. Thankfully we didn’t have to paint any other rooms. They are all neutral colors and match our stuff. I LOVE my house.

We close on our house this week, so I am sure I will feel like you! We know we will be spraying the ceilings white (FIL is lending us a spray gun so it will be quick), painting all or most of the rooms, ripping up the ugly brown carpeting, installing more outlets in the kitchen and hopefully installing new light fixtures, since the ones there are probably older than I am and could use upgrading. The comes the fun part,(hopefully ) shopping for decor and accessories (rugs, end tables, curtains, etc).

@jb20:  we got our house (and moved in) in mid-june. since it was summer time, we tackled all outdoor projects first. replaced & enlarged the existing deck, ripped up landscaping beds, stained THE ENTIRE EXTERIOR (all-natural cedar siding) and some other smaller projects.

Now that its too cold outside, we’re working on the inside. We’ve just recarpeted all of the bedrooms and have officially painted the bedrooms, living room and primed/ painted the hideous, blood-red wall that has been haunting me since our first walk-thru of the house!

Its amazing what some paint can do, and once you get your own things hung up on the walls after painting, it will help! Plus once you start to aquire knick-knacks, photos, furniture, etc. it’ll help even more.

Our next big project is refacing the kitchen cabinets & replacing the main living area (teal, green) carpet with new hardwoods =)
