I haven’t had this happen, yikes! Can you go to a wholesale store (like BJs, Costco, Sam’s Club, etc) and maybe get some bulk diapers or wipes or something and gift them out?

I wouldn’t say the twins get a “bigger” gift, but maybe just double of something.

Buy what you can afford.  If they are close enough to you to buy them a gift, they should be close enough to understsand that maybe you cannot afford the biggest gift out there and anything you can afford to send should be appreciated.

is she cloth diapering the children?? she will probably not want to do that with new borns though- their diapers are the most disgusting… i know i had three children… i would buy costco/sam club/bjs biggest diaposable diaper box in new born/size one and give them to each baby that is coming into the world and either a blanket/clothing item. do you sew? joanns this week is having coupon commontion- where you can use a 40/50 percent coupon on one cut a of fabric (regular priced item)and then use a 20 percent coupon on top of it- regular and/ sale priced items.  or you start saving 20/30 bucks from every paycheck to go in a baby shower fund that way when december comes around you have $$$ to buy gifts for all the babies

Babysitting vouchers? Though I guess this wont work so well with your out of town friends. My husband is a huge bargain hunter, he found a job lot of assorted baby stuff a while back, bulk bought it all cheap and we have been giving it away to pregnant friends since! Helps that he works in retail and gets some good insider bargains.

FleeSircus:  babies and baby gifts are easy. all parents appreciate diapers and onesies. it won’t break the bank for you and it’s super helpful for them.

good luck!

FleeSircus:  If it was me, I’d get the twins a bigger gift not just because they are twins, but also ebcause of the connection to the parents. These will be your niece and/or nephew. I know that what I would spend on my siblings, or DH’s sibling would be more than cousins’ kids or friends’ kids. But yes, as PPs stated, at the end of the day give what you can–everything is appreciated!!

Gift cards, gift cards, gift cards. Start buying now.  To whatever baby store that is around the parents to be.
