@aquarius_91:  OMG facebook is a major creeper!! (I quit a few months ago)

Did you visit any baby name sites? Maybe clicked on those names to read meanings or popularity statuses? Facebook tracks the sites you look at… so even if you didn’t type it in you may have clicked on it or hovered over it… or maybe emailed the ideas to someone who uses their facebook account for their email?

That is creepy! It’s like how Google always seems to know what I am going to ask! I will type in “how” and somehow it knows each time exactly what I want to know “how” to do…weird. FI and I were joking that Google must have secret microphones installed listening to our conversations.

@Ms_Purple:  I’ve had this happen with Google before too…

I’m starting to think the people who say we are constantly surveilanced aren’t so crazy after all o.0

If you’ve googled them or searched them on a different website, that pops up in your cookies, which a lot of websites (FB included) use to target advertising specifically to you. Ever notice how there is conveniently an ad for that skirt you were just looking at on thegap.com, or the item you just searched for on Amazon is suddenly in an ad? That’s how they do it. If you don’t want that to happen, make sure you’re using a browser like Firefox or Chrome and download an add-on to block the tracking.

FI will ask something like ‘why did u like TNT’s Major Crimes tv show on facebook?’ and its because i was searching major crimes in my city on google out of boredom that day. im trying to NOT search things on my phone, laptop, or desktop until after i deactivate.

@Kings7911:  oh i know! i had to stop researching my wedding dress by its name, because i am afraid it might post on facebook the model photo and advertise the designer or something right were FI could see it. its ridiculous. FB is ruined from the awesome thing it used to be.

My DH works in computer programming and is paraniod about facebook. He rarely uses it. When he did sign up, he listed his age as 106. The next day he began getting email spam from AARP. Yep, creepy.
