Ok as many bees might have noticed I have posted multiple times that I am very confused about the center stone I want in my engagement ring. I know for SURE I want a solitaire and for SURE I want a diamond.
I finally went ahead and chose a .62 heart shaped diamond solitaire from Blue Nile that I will be receiving tomorrow. The heart is very signifigant in my relationship with my husband and it’s the only diamond shape I can find a sentimental value in. I also liked this diamond in particular because it will give me much finger coverage for the money (6mm).
My issue is this:
If I was told to chose my dream ring it would not be the one I chose, it would definitely be a round brilliant. The thing is my dream size is .75-.80 and that would take us over budget for sure and I don’t feel comfortable spending so much money on a ring (my opinion). This is my dream setting:
I know I can have one made at a local jeweler that can be exactly like this one but the center stone would be much more costly and I don’t feel it’s important to spend so much on a ring. Also, I do not ever plan to upgrade. I want a ring I can have for the rest of my life. I know I like the heart right now and I will probably grow attached and love it for the rest of time BUT I can’t understand WHY my dream (fantasy) ring does not include a heart shaped diamond.
What should I do?
FYI I’ve always wanted something other than a round for a solitaire but my dream ring is still a round because it would be large otherwise I’ve never been a fan of rounds.
