i really wanted to be at a certain weight by my dress fitting and it is not going to happen. it is a week from today and i am totally bummed. i did loose a few inches because my dress is bigger now then it was when i bought it but i did not reach my goal…not at all. and so i know that i cannot loose any weight in between the fitting and the big day because then my dress will be too big. UGH. so that means i am still going to be a fat cow on my big day..which is a total bummer. so now i just have to postpone my weight loss another 2 months. i really really want to be at a healthy weight…i am so scared that being overweight is going to give me a shorter life span and i want to live to see my great grand kids and grow old with my husband…
so…what did you ladies do to make sure that you did not gain or loose weight before the big day? Should i measure myself the day of fittings and then measure myslef every week to ensure i am staying on track?
my dress being too big will look just as bad as if my dress is too small….and my weight fluctuates a lot because i am such a freak with food. hehe

You are not a fat cow! Since it is your first fitting, could you have another one closer to the date in case you lose a little more weight?

I definitely agree with MissAsB! You should try to schedule another fitting closer to your wedding!!
P.S. You’re totally not a fat cow!

but my fitting is 8 weeks before my wedding and they said they cant do much earlier than that. is that true? i thought this was a little weird but was just curious.
thanks for saying that i am not a fat cow…your right i am not maybe just a fat calf

You are not a calf or cow or anything in between! You are a beautiful gorgeous woman! I think they don’t want to do fittings earlier than 8 weeks out in case the person loses or gains weight. I had my first fitting done near the end of April last year.

aww MissAsB that was sweet, thank you. maybe an overweight calf?! haha…now i am just having fun. hehe
oh sorry i did not explain that well…i meant they cannot do it closer to my wedding. i am having my fitting done as close as they will do. i said it wrong..hehe
i think i will get it done next week and if i happen to loose a couple more pounds then they will have to take it in a bit more when i go back 😀

Is your dress very complicated? Does it have a lot of layers and detailing that would make it take a while to take it?? My dress only took 2 weeks to get fitted, but it was pretty simple.
Maybe you could call around to other alreration shops and schedule another one closer to the wedding?
p.s. you’re not a fat cow/calf/anything. You are beautiful and you will be beautiful on your wedding day!

I think it would be okay to go ahead and get it done and then if a bit more needs to be taken in, they can do that a lot more quickly than the original alterations.

wifeywife..that was very nice to say. thank you
yeah i agree with missasb and wifeywife 😀
my dress is a very simple dress and will not require much alterations. it just needs to be taken in at the waist and bust and is a very simple satin material. i have a feeling the alterations will be done very quickly and i will have the opportunity to do another if need be..now that i think about it 😀 but i kind of have heard bad stories about davids bridal alterations dept. but i dont know where else to take it. i live in a super small town with no options really…
i love wedding bee….
thanks ladies 😀

Silly girl, you will be gorgeous!!
I had my first fitting yesterday and the dress needed to be taken in at least one size. My store suggested for the next fitting to be in the week of my marriage! I will be going sooner, but I;m just telling you this to let you know not all stores have these extreme timeframes.

@daniellealys- I also live in a very small town and I got my dress altered at the dry cleaners here in town. She did a great job! Just ask around to friends and see where they get their clothing hemmed 🙂

My dress isn’t in yet so I don’t know anything about dress fittings, but you are going to be absolutely gorgeous!
