I’m curious what the Bees think of this idea (and it’s a LOOOONG story to get there)…
ETA: My mom passed this July (and she was my BEST FRIEND).
Rewind eight years ago… I was a senior in high school (a year early, so even MORE immature than your normal 18-year-old).
Anywho, my beautiful, amazing, hard-working, not-well-off mama saved money to take me on a month-long trip to Italy and Greece. We landed the day I turned 17…
…and I was a complete, disgusting. brat.
LONG STORY SHORT, we re-bonded over drinks in Venice one night. This night truly changed my life. We drank one local drink all night long and had so much fun that she special ordered the Italian liqueur back to the states.
So, now that she has passed, I’d like to honor her in many ways. Do you think I shoul devote my “signature drink” to her or is that tacky?

@jwdesiree: HOW COULD THAT EVER BE CONSIDERED TACKY? Absolutely a wonderful idea.

@jwdesiree: that’s a lovely and tasteful idea, and sounds so special to you!

It sounds like such a lovely thing to do to honor your mother. I’d have a little note by the bar explaining it. It’s so sweet.

Okay, good. I’ll include a note as well.

I think it’s a great idea! You might want to move this to another section besides Flowers though to get more responses!
I’m sorry about the loss of your mom, but I think this is a really sweet memory of her!

@Schatzie821: Ha, I’m not sure why this is categorized under “Flowers” (probably a random button I pushed)…. But thank you 🙂
I guess I am just afraid that no one else will understand why that’s THE signature drink (other than me speaking).

@jwdesiree: oh my goodness that is the sweetest thing! Not even close to tacky!!

@jwdesiree: In all honesty… does it matter? YOU know the meaning and that’s what truly matters. I would make a sign with the name of the drink, a description of the drink and then under it a little saying about your mom.
Jwdesiree and Hubby’s Signature Drink
~Lily’s Lovely Liquer~
Italian Liquer with heavy cream and Amaretto, finsihed with club soda (just making this up)
Lily (mother of the bride) was her daughter’s very best friend in life. They went on a trip to Italy together and bonded over *Italian Liquer.* Jwdesiree would like to remember her lovely mother today with this signature drink. Bere fino!

What an amazing idea!! Love it 🙂

That story is SO sweet and SO beautiful! It totally made me tear up!
I would LOVE to see that wedding!

@jwdesiree: that would never be tacky, but rather absolutely beautiful! I think it’s an important story to share so maybe you can add a quick little summary (and put it in a picture frame) as to why that’s the speciality drink (obviously the part about being a “brat” isn’t necessary, but something to the effect of how this was the drink you bonded over during a special mother-daughter trip

That is such an incredibly beautiful idea!

Thanks, ladies 🙂
I think the framed story/note is a great idea.
I’m also thinking about basing the name around hers. Too cheesy?
