Entertain me with home remedies please?
My husband JUST got over this cold. He still has the cough though. Anyways, I don’t have a tempature. I have a really runny nose, VERY watery eyes & sore throat with cough.
Home remedies please? I just took some cold/flu medicine. I have vicks on my throat/chest. Otherwise that is all I have medicine wise. Oh & theraflu but I am trying to skip drinking it if possible.

Echanacia (I probably misspelled it) works wonders! It is an herbal remedy that will help your immune system work faster. If you get it in liquid form it tastes AWFUL though. Like really bad.

Tea and honey. And some comfort food. My favorite is mac and cheese when I’m sick. Feel better!

Neti pot (I use a saline squeeze bottle type), zinc throat lozenge and AirBorne. I recently got sick and thought it wasn’t working, but when I started to use allergy nasal spray my ‘cold’ suddenly got better.
Since my DH has started using the neti pot/ sailine bottle, he hasn’t gotten bronchitis, which he used to get all the time.

My mom swears by chicken soup, with a little bit of lemon and ginger, and a DASH of hot sauce to clear the sinuses. It really does work wonders.

Sick too. Lots of water, orange juice; a warm bath, PJs and a movie.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: I would recommend purchasing it at a health food store because the quality will be better but you can purchase it at wal-mart or target or any drug store really in the aisle with the vitamins and supplements 🙂
My mom is actually a homeopathic doctor so I am sure she has some tricks up her sleeve too. I will try to get ahold of her and see what she says. I know she has always given me echonacia when I was sick too.
Also, Cayenne pepper helps. If you can manage to sprinkle some in your food 🙂

I spent the last week getting over a bad cold. I had some severe nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, etc. Along with the basics (vicks, nasal spray, cold/flu medicine) a humidifier was what actually got me to sleep through the night. The room got hot but it made it so much easier to breathe! In addition, I think all that extra sleep helped speed up recovery time compared to what I suffered in the past.

Honey is proven to be just as effective as any OTC medications. It has tremendous health benefits. So I highly recommend you have some honey. Boil some water, put in a teaspoon — it tastes so delicious. Add some lemon and it’s considered a “hot toddy” but I think the lemon makes it less tasty.

Lots and lots of rest. Make your bed like a plush burrito and sleep it off. 🙂
