(Closed) Okay so tax brackets and salary negotiation- what should I do?

No, it doesn’t work like that. You only get taxed in the higher range for the amount that exceeds a certain value. So, if you’re making 35K, you are taxed 15% for the first 30K and 25% for the extra 5K (the amount in the 30K+ bracket). Does that make sense?

@accorn:  Haha, it’s totally fine. I started a job recently and was panicking about getting promotions because I was close the the next tax bracket, and then I found that website and felt pretty dumb…
