For my VR here was my original plan.

It started with a Candy Buffet...  2 orange candies: Whirly pops & peachy rings.  and 2 blue candies: Candy sticks (or rock candy), and blue licorice.  Those 4 along with Starburst, blow pops, jolly ranchers and tootsie rolls.

then I want a cheesecake buffet (in lieu of "wedding cake) So we would get plain cheesecakes and have toppings such as fruits, syrups, nuts, etc....

But, I also want a buffet dinner, where everyone gets what they want.  I am now realizing this is choice overload!!!!

Which buffet would you omit?  the one I am honestly thinking of omitting is the cheesecake buffet, but my husband LOVES this idea and its the only thing he has shown great joy over.  So I hate to lose it. (i actually came up with this idea on my own so I am kind of proud of it)

It is an afternoon ceremony, so I am thinking I could omit the buffet dinner and get sandwiches from subway or something instead? along with a couple of sides.

The candy buffet could be omitted easily because its been done to death and I could choose hot sauce favors (here in the sw I think it would be a hit)  So I think the Candy Buffet could be omitted the easiest, but i LOVE that idea... LOL

So, suggestions would be awesome.  I have tons of time (my VR isn't until 2013) but this is something that has been kind of lingering in the back of my head...  So any ideas?

I think people do a meal, candy and cake a lot... if you want it all, do it all.

I certainly wouldn't mind three buffets... but of the three, the candy buffet is the least enticing to me. Do not -- I repeat, do NOT -- kill the cheesecake buffet! I'm with your FI on that one. Cool

Aw, I think all the buffets would work together. Food buffets are completely normal (IMO) so no problem there. Cheescake buffet sounds really fun!!! So definitely do that one... all they need to figure out is what topping they want. :) And a candy bar is fun as well. That's something you can take home right? Plus I think it gives something for people to talk about, "Check out that cheescake buffet... what topping do you want? Oh wow, look at that candy buffet, I'm totally getting that orange stuff" :) Haha!

I agree with the other posters.. I don't think your guests would mind all of these options being there.  I love the concept of the cheesecake buffet!  Very cool.

I think the candy and cheesecake buffet can be combined as one overall sweets table. I think if you do that, it won't be overload at all. BTW I love the cheesecake buffet idea!

My fi wants to do a candy buffet too, and my mom says since it's one of the things he REALLY wants to do, we should do it. Although I agree that they have been done a LOT. The hot sauce favors sound super cute though (!), any way you could do all three buffets and the favors?

I personally don't think it's too much, they're not going to be eating from all 3 at exactly the same time. It's good to have choices!

Keep them all! But if you are dead-set on getting rid of one, I'd pick the candy buffet.

Who doesn't love choices? For that matter, who doesn't love candy, cheesecake and food :)? Keep them all, your guests will enjoy the chance to mill around a bit.

too many buffets & choices?? impossible! sounds amazing! i would love to be a guest at your wedding=) the cheesecake buffet is a really neat idea, i've never seen that done before & it sounds awesome. if you think it's too much and want to omit one, i would pick the candy bar to be left out. but, if you want them all and it's not too much $$ wise, then keep them all!

I would omit the candy buffet. Many people do not enjoy candy that much. Keep the cheesecake buffet for sure!! Oh, and I love the hot sauce favors.

I think guests will love the options and it gets them up and moving at the reception (other than dancing).

I definitely wouldn't get rid of the meal. I don't think you have to get rid of a buffet, but if you want, I'd nix the candy buffet. Like you said, it's done to death, whereas the cheesecake buffet is unique and something important to your FI.
