You should open them as they come. Especially if they were shipped. Send thank yous immediately to let the giver know that the package arrived safely (i.e. not broken). In addition, if you wait, and something ends up being broken, some places may not let you exchange it because it has been too long! It's perfectly acceptable to open gifts ahead of time, just don't USE them until after the wedding!
Thanks! Now I will just have to convince FI that we should open them, just not use them.
I totally agree with Mandalynn on this one...
Don't get overwhelmed - and remember, this is a GOOD problem to have :)

Sorry, there are no users yet.
We received a gift off our registry today. I'm not sure if it's a shower gift (shower is out of state next month) or a very early wedding gift. I opened the box, so I know what it is and who it's from. Should I send a thank-you note now? FI thinks we shouldn't open any more packages...but then I wouldn't be able to send a thank you until after the shower or wedding, or whenever the "appropriate" time to open them is!
I feel like everything to do with weddings is way more complicated than it needs to be!
