(Closed) Okay to tell guests to wear formal attire?

I think the only time it’s technically appropriate is if it’s black tie, and then you would write that on the actual invitation, in the bottom right corner. But I think it’s probably okay to write “Formal attire requested” or “Cocktail attire requested”…I’m sure other bees have a more informed opinion to offer! I’m still not sure what we’re doing for our own invitations. How formal do you want people to be? Like wearing tuxes? Or are slacks and a nice shirt okay for men?

On some work events, I’ve seen invites that read “Black Tie” or “Black Tie Optional.”
