That sounds like a reaaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy long wedding…. You should go with the earlier time… just in case the guests get tired early.

@Evie19:Three hours should be plenty of time for folks to enjoy themselves. Besides, at the end of the day, I’m sure you and your husband to be will just want to get away and enjoy eachother for a little while. πŸ™‚ Either way, hope you have fun.

@Evie19: I think your estimation sounds right, though I’d add a buffer into each category just in case!  Also, double check the timeing of each section with friends in Greece (or are there any other bees outside the US to help with this one?)

As for the length of your wedding, I can slightly relate as I’m from Canada and my fiance is from Germany and we are both used to much longer weddings than what is typical in California where we live and will be getting married. Timing was actually one of the most crucial issues when we looked for our venue as many locations wanted music off by 9 or 10pm! (Excuse me? That’s when we are just getting started!) And some were very rude to me telling me to go look for a club to rent!!

In the end the longest I could stretch it out is a ceremony at 5pm, with music until 1am (most of our guests are originally from outside the US so they will be expecting this) though I wish we could stretch it out till 3am!  I already own a house with my fiance and we are both more concerned with celebrating with our friends and family.  Oh, and to compensate for our shortened timeline I am planning a weekend of events for our guests as it will be a destination wedding for most of them!

btw your wedding sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun! πŸ™‚ I will probably have to hang around on here after my own just to see your recaps! πŸ™‚

I was very surprised to find out that anyone would end their wedding at 9 or 10pm but everyone is different!

I have another post up right now that you might be able to help me with.  We are going to have quite a few speaches and toasts through dinner and dessert and I’m not sure when to serve the champagne for the champagne toast, and when my fiance and I should speak.  One thought is to hand out the champagne right as people are sitting down, another would be to serve it with dessert, though a lot of people like coffee then so maybe it isn’t the best time.  Decisions, decisions!

We had 2 hours of dancing and we gave our DJ 4 hours of songs to choose from, based on the vibe on the dance floor.

you’re gonna have so much fun….can’t wait for the recaps!
